Tire temp sensors are operational! I'm so excited, the data actually makes sense! Here's a lap from this morning's session showing tire temps for the right front tire. The left-hand turns are annotated.

OMG
This is awesome !

What is the plan ? Testing the right side then move to the left ? To save on sensors ?
I can't believe how sensible and stable the numbers are
Especially in between sensors on the same wheel.

Can you share with us the sensor reference number and part list you used ?
I am really interested in the setup

would be nice to also have a sensor on the brake rotor or caliper !

With these data you can really pinpoint the best tires/pads for each track
Awesome!

We only instrumented the right side of the car since it saved us $600 in sensors, and we know this track (counterclockwise) is hardest on the right side of the car. Any adjustment that the right side need inevitably improves the left side as well. Is it as good as a full set of 13 sensors? No, but it gets us plenty close for a sports car that's only so adjustable.

I don't know of anyone currently reselling the sensors, we bought them direct from the manufacturer (Exergen). Let me run some numbers and see if it's worth our time to stock and resell. We could at least sell the sensors and the little aluminum fittings I made to hold them into a bracket.

And yes, I absolutely plan to use these sensors on our brakes as well once we move forward into brake development.

We've got some big plans for this car, all we're doing right now is gathering baseline information.

Now that we've got a good feel for the car in stock form, we bought some Racecomp Engineering Tarmac 2s to lower the car and speed up weight transfer. We didn't take any detailed pics because there's a million coilover DIYs, and these are pretty straightforward.

It's amazing how much an inch lower ride height changes the aesthetics of the car.

Here it is parked next to our ACR-X doing it's best racecar impersonation. Grrr.

oh oh oh this is taking shape. glad you went with the tarmac 2's that's what I also have on my car, so I'll be able to follow on your mods

what spring rate did you go for 400lb or more ?

BTW, I am not sure I understand where your IR bracket fit in the front ? it seems mounter to the suspension arm but too close to allow the wheel to be fitted in between. do you have a photo of the Ir arm with the wheel on ?

Looking forward to seeing your new times with the coilovers. Did you guys add camber plates as well?

We're running the 400 lb springs. Since these aren't "race" coilovers, we figured the street spring rate would be most comparable to what a theoretical customer would want for a dual duty car.

The front IR sensor array is mounted to the frame above the wheel well liner. It's not mounted to any part of the suspension. I don't have a good picture that shows that right now.

Not yet. Haven't found any on the market we're in love with. We're debating making our own line of camber plates, but that's just adding to a long list of action items...

I agree that all the camber plates out there, are not racing oriented enough. They should be considering they are for ... racing.

I went with the ground control system in the front and raceseng in the back with 2" drop. They are ok but the adjustment system is not beefy enough for to taste.

Hopefully the data you have collected and your tedious documenting will lend you a free set of camber plate for testing @Raceseng or @GRoundcontrol

Sorry! Motorcycles are everywhere at MSR today. No track time for us.

I spent today getting a feel for our shock rates from our wheel position data from last time, we decided to put the Tarmac 2s on the shock dyno before we put them on the track to get a feel for how much adjustment we can expect, consistency, etc. I know we can't revalve them, but we'd still like to get a feel for what to expect.

Pretty graphs to come.
