@BatStig beat me to it - Jeff just emailed me as well, same explanation. I had a chance to look at @Dango1 's completed set - Jeff mentioned and I saw first hand that there really was no clearance available for a bracket (I believe it was his original intent to have one). Sounds like instructions will be available in the next 2 days or so.

This is worry some, I was under the same impression as well. I guess I'll find out soon enough as mine are supposed to arrive on the 17th (Sunday?)

So hang on, the kit is just the standard quick latch minis with an angled washer to position them correctly?!? Also no instructions yet? Is there anything to align the holes correctly in the bumper (like trd alignment stickers shown previously) or is still a hand measurement?

What happened to the brackets they showed being fabricated on their website/instagram late last year?

I got mine yesterday and was a bit underwhelmed tbh
$185 ? Really?
You should provide a hole drilling template at least - if u f-up my bumper because of misalignment issues I'll be pissed.

I still have a set of PasswordJDM bumper straps - at least hole alignment isn't a big issue but drilling a hole in the fender is low on my Like list too

I guess I'll wait for more install info before I try mine out.

So from what I can piece together, brackets were the original intent from the beginning and were fabricated but no proper way of implementing them was found (not enough space between subframe and bumper). The final package looks like it uses a combination of OE holes and perhaps some drilling required. From what I can tell, having examined @Dango1 's bumper, the hold will be strong. However, I am a slight bit disappointed by the pricing of the package for the latches + custom angled spacers. Who knows though, maybe those angled spacers were really costly to fab...

We should see about instructions in next day or two.

I don't know that I would of been so eager to order if I knew what I was getting for the money. Ultimately, the function will be worthwhile but I was expecting a nice billet aluminum bracket like the initial pictures. I don't care that I can't see it 24/7, sometimes the appeal is knowing it's there. Either way, I'll install it when I get a chance and take as many pics as I can.

Move Over Racing Bumper Q/R's. Interest?

Agreed!

It will be nice to have the gap gone but still somehow I almost feel like we've been duped on this one.

Oh well, next time I will wait to see more info on the product before sending my money and having the product change so dramatically once finalized.

I think a lot of my issue is that it's stated repeatedly that there's a bracket, but you don't actually get them.

You can order 4 of the quick release pegs for $120 on their site. That would mean that the additional money is for 4 angled spacers.

And from their initial post:

The more I think about it, the less pleased I am with how this turned out.

@protpibe this was also my initial reaction. I hope Jeff makes a statement to address this soon. Ideally he would be truthful with fab cost of angled spacers, apply margin and reprice (offer refund to those who pre-purchased).

But again, I recognize that we're making assumptions (albeit, reasonable ones) that the angled spacers are not worth ~$50.

This probably explains why the demo pics of the WRB BRZ never were shown with the bumper off.

Obviously the quoted price includes the planned bracket, listed in this thread and still on their webpage. I'd be surprised if they wouldn't refund a reasonable amount to those who have already paid.

The STI one even has springs on it. This one has free floating spacers. I'm not even sure now the spacers stay oriented properly and don't fall off when then bumper is removed.

????

Great idea,

marketing looks after itself,

what's shown is not received,

what is received is overpriced,

no instructions are included,

and no one has 2 minutes over several weeks to post the instructions.

Sounds like a snafu clusterfuk to me, and they seem to be getting a free ride from forum members.

????
