Will the regular Q91 clips work or does it have to be the 91-A variant?

I ran these on my volkswagen for about 4 years. The clamp will deform the window seal and the rubber mounts will deteriorate after a year and a half.

Found that the regular Q91 should work fine, but Yakima never seems to have them in stock.

I purchased my q91 clips from amazon and had no issues at all.

Wish I saw this/thought of this sooner. Maybe I'll do this next year for hauling a christmas tree.

Managed to stuff a 6-7 foot tree in the trunk this year though. Now I just need to clean up all the needles...

I've had mine for a couple (2?) years now, regularly carrying a bike or a longboard at 80mph with no problems.

This made me think of the time I saw a guy driving a Miata with a surfboard of some kind jammed into it, just sticking up and out of the car at like a 45 degree angle.
