When I was a kid back in the mid-west farm country, there weren't no child labor laws - the only limitation to working was your size and strength.

Are you referring to your upbringing when the "Old Testament" was just called "Tuesday's news" Humfrz?

JKJK.

I am 40 and I see a huge difference too.

At age 12 until 16 I cut lawns and made a lot of money for a kid in the early 90s. At age 16 I started working at a grocery store and at age 17 I got a job make a good bit more in a Kohl's warehouse operating a forklift...

At 17 I enlisted in the Army as a senior in HS and shipped out after graduation and age 18.

I don't go back quite that far -

Yep, I remember mowing when I was a kid - hundreds of acres - I used to carry a hammer in to tool box of the tractor so when the sickle bar cut the leg(s) off of a rabbit or cat, I could put it out of its misery.

The real exciting times were when I would hit a bumble bee nest. There is an old farm saying "A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor".

Sounds like you learned the work ethic at a young age -

I also remember mowing the lawns for my Aunts and Uncles that lived in town - that was a piece of cake - they had lawn mowers with engines on top of them -

Thanks for your service in the Army -
