86 Wheel Fitment Beginner Help - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So this is my first time dealing with anything wheel fitment related, and I was just curious to see if this setup would work? Is there anything specific I should know about?

Wheels are 18x9.5 +38mm, and the tires are 255/35ZR18, and I'm getting Tein Street Basis Zs for coilovers.

I'm far from a fitment guru,but I was going to mention that it 18x9.5 wheels seems a bit excessive for these cars.

Welcome to the forum @starxv! No disrespect intended, but this kind of performance facade seems like the automotive equivalent of lip syncing.
Like if Milli Vanilli decided to build a sports car.

What would your guys' preferred choice of fitment be? I appreciate the advice though I don't really want to weigh down the car LOL

Big wheels are almost always heavier, and it's unlikely you'll need a tire much wider than stock to get any additional corner grip. A 17x8 (ish) with a 225 (ish) seems to be enough for most folks. But it really depends on what you're trying to do. Achieving an aesthetic sometimes comes at the cost of comfort or performance, in some ways.

Hmmm might go with 18x8? I still want a close to flush look without sacrificing too much out of weight or performance though..

It's all about your priorities. Nothing wrong with sacrificing performance for looks as long as you are making an informed decision and know the tradeoffs. If you don't plan to race or track the car, do what you like. There's plenty of NA Rocket Bunny widebodys in my area.

I think that'd achieve your goal, without making you hate life every time you drive the car. And you won't have to go too extreme with the offset to get flush that way. The coilovers (or hell just some springs) will take care of the rest.
