I'm almost 7 months into this new job and things aren't going well at all. I don't have a clue what the heck I should do about it.
I could try switching teams (you can switch as soon as you want/don't need to wait a full year), but then I risk burning bridges and whatnot and there's no guarantee the grass will be greener. But I've tried all I can on this one and I think I'm at the limit.

There's already so many issues it'd be too noisy to air them out here.
I'm at the mid-level engineer rank. My boss wants me to work with the other guy on the team who was at the same level (he recently got a promo). He wants the two of us to basically "lead the team" by having the two of us be able to work together on everything, setting standards, etc. To do that, he had that guy assigned as my "onboarding buddy" to ramp me up since my first day. I'm not a huge first impressions type of person, but my manager my first week told me to schedule a 1 hour meeting time with that other guy to get to know each other and have him start teaching me things. So I schedule that meeting, find him at the office (this was 2 weeks before COVID lockdown began) and then all this guy wants to do is show me a "games room" and play video games. No work-related things or teaching me anything. Basically similar things have happened since then. I joined our pagerduty on-call rotation last week. Well, three or so weeks ago I shadowed him during his on-call rotation to learn things and he basically didn't show me anything all week. So I mention this to my manager and my manager probably talked to him privately and told him to show me things, so the following week he finally did and then ended the week with "well good luck and have fun later!" sarcastically. There's a younger guy who's only maybe a year out of college leading a project. My manager wanted me to join and contribute to that project because he knows I'm an intermediate level engineer with prior experience working on similar things as that project. Basically he wants me to learn the new project but share my generic experience with the newer inexperienced engineer. So multiple times that younger guy was having trouble figuring something out and basically didn't know how to troubleshoot it. I tried contacting him several times, suggested ways of looking for bottlenecks in the system, that sort of thing. He outright ignored me and then proceeded to waste the morning making one change and then the afternoon reversing that change because he found out there was a bottleneck. Which is ridiculous because if he'd listened to me and the ideas I provided, he'd have figured out that bottleneck before wasting a day struggling with it. This young guy seemingly doesn't like me. He asked me today for help with something, but I said our manager on Friday gave me tasks to do based on my first on-call rotation last week that he wanted me to prioritize this week. So after I say this, the guy replies "well good luck with that." and stops replying even though I said I'd be happy to review what he's working on later if he sends me a link to it. There are other issues, but as you can tell one huge chunk of them from the beginning has been chemistry with coworkers. I don't like having "friends" per se in my actual work group, but at my old job one of the big strengths we had was we communicated and worked well together, and I'm not getting that from half my team even after 7 months.

Yeah that's shitty when people can't function like a team.

That sucks @spike021. I am lucky that a few of us in different departments look after each other and don't just pass it off as "not my job." Except for sales, they fuck everything up.

I've already gone to him for advice a few times and he said I'm doing the right things, but that he doesn't have any concrete advice .
