Also installed new bottom door weatherstripping since the door cards had to be off for that.

So, new job has me travel and stay somewhere else for a week about once a month. They pay mileage and drive time. Right now the BRZ is basically track and occasional weekend toy only, my only other rig is my truck which isn’t going to fly so I am looking at commuters.

Manual.
Preferably able to seat 4.
Have its entertaining moments when I want them.
30mpg min on highway.
Doesn’t have to handle winter weather as I have a truck.

Thoughts?

I was looking at older Miata’s but I really don’t want a convertible.
Fiesta ST is on the list but I haven’t looked too hard into them yet.
Find decent deal on salvage or blown up Twin and fix.

Haha... When "preferable" really means "meh."

Get another stock twin fixer-upper. Redundancy is good for troubleshooting.

^Or just another Subaru in general so you get the same basic layout/quirks/parts vendors/etc.

Got a budget in mind? Any limitations on years/miles?

Elantra GT from last decade is a sleeper hot hatch. I did enjoy my manual Accent on back roads and in the snow, but highway was less fun. FoST, FiST of course.

Trying to stay around 10K.

Not really worry about miles or year. I was looking at 30 year old Miata’s with 250k for $4k without batting an eye.

Pricing on “needs work” Twin’s is still kinda high. I can get one for right around 14k with about 100k miles that runs and drives now. I was seeing blown motor cars a while back for around 5k.

Couple examples in my area.

15’ BRZ, clean title but rod knock. 130k miles. Tons of mods including JRSC. Clean inside and out, wants 10k. Could probably sell all the mods and recover around 3-4k which is about what a used engine would cost.

14’ BRZ. 107k miles, 7k in Nampa, ID so far away. Obviously been in a wreak and all the body work is sanded and primed. Interior below average for age and miles.

Need to wait closer to Xmas for people to be more desperate for money I guess.

Wait where do all four people sit in a Miata?

That’s just a preference. Not a real requirement.

I've seen a few nice Fits. Someone I know used to track one too.

Thought about getting one myself a year or two ago.

Same with the Yaris (Toyota made ones, not the Mazda made one). It, along with the Fit, can be fun cars, but you probably won't enjoy it much on the highway. I've had a Yaris sedan and a 3-door hatch. Tossable cars in corners.
