Ecutek + FF is probably the best route if you want top tier NA performance without any concern for MPGs.
~
MPGs will go down drastically from my experience, but may not be an issue for track cars etc.

You'll get more power not doing FlexFuel & run something like an Edelbrock SC. Similar MPG loss, but much more power and you can fill up anywhere.

Like everyone has chimed in with, very limited locations to get E85 here in PDX, if there was a spot easily accessible on the westside (Beaverton-Hillsboro) I would be tempted to try it out again to really feel 2-5mpg with the SC

For me, I get about 78% of the miles I would have gotten out of a tank of gasoline. And I make 23 mile drive (30-35min) to my e85 station ;D. As far as price, it's $3.89 vs $6.09, so it's not too bad.

I’m just curious if going straight E85 with the OFT 4.03 tune would be worth the cost and time. Living 10-15 mins away from Jay’s Garage is nice and I don’t drive much outside of the metro area. I drive about 80-140 miles weekly and fill up weekly at about half a tank since my car is my daily. Albeit it does suffer not being flex fuel and unable to run a mix to have the ECU adapt on the go in cases where I need to be able to drive long distances.

It's a pretty decent power gain, nearly 10%, and scales with any other mods. Jay's fuel always comes in around E70 which is about 100 octane. This allows the ethanol maps to run much more timing. The only PITA, is if you had to fill with regular fuel, you would need to run the car mostly empty, then flash to a petrol map. Sampe with going the other way, run it mostly out of gas, then fill and flash to the E85 map.

Oh I thought Jay’s sold a steady E85 fuel, not E70. I know the OFT can accommodate E70, so I guess it’ll be fine regardless. Wouldn’t E70 also make it easier to start up on cold mornings due to more gasoline content?

Not really, you could argue the point though.

E85 can vary from 51-85%. I got some in Eugene and it was only around 63. Jays is pretty consistently 70+ so I always bought it from there. It may help cold start, I don’t know for sure.

Just filled up and switched over to E85. The car was really struggling for power when tank was almost empty driving home from Jay’s lol. Drove around for about an hour at 1am, ECU still learning and doing its thing but feels real good. Put 5 gallons from a jug in with the remaining gas and got another 5 waiting once I purge more of the gasoline from my tank.

Car does feel pretty refined already with power delivery, I can feel the flatten torque with the butt dyno even though I was previously on 93 Stg2+ tune. Still got a slight dead pedal feel but that’ll be fixed in time as new tune relearns pedal position. Just wanted to say thanks for all the help guys! I’m officially addicted to the corn juice.

Granted I got the flex fuel conersion for mine, along with the tune for it. But it's true what they say about the not loving the cold weather and start ups. Nothing that letting it warm up before taking off can't fix. Which I do anyway, but I know not everyone does.

I usually only put in the E85 when I know I'll be doing a bit more 'spirited' driving, since this is my daily, and Jay's isn't super convienent with where I live. Not too mention i don't really want to run straight ethanol all the time with my fuel lines, since I would really like my car to last a while.

I should have told you this earlier. But if you are on pump gas and fill with e85. Run it on the standard pump gas map and watch the fuel trims. When the LTFT start going off, shut the car off, flash the e85 map.

That's pretty slick.

That’s what I did following the OFT E85 guide. Was struggling to drive 10 miles home near empty from Jay’s with tank light on but made it safely until night time. Then filled with 5 gallons at home, drove and monitored until trim spike and then switched maps. Then drove that tank down, filled another 5 gallons and drove that down to get rid of remaining gas.

I’m on my first full tank of E85 now and it feels really refined and powerful but does struggle a bit on start up even at around 65f ambient lol. Definitely worth it for spirited summer driving but probably going to struggle on start up more going into late September/October. Might be worth looking into cranking the injector pulses up like I read elsewhere on this forum.

I’ll probably be switching back to 93 in October for peace of mind but man is E85 fun to experience.
