Tuning my buddies frs

Just like the title says, my buddy wants me to tune his completely stock frs after he rode in mine. However, he does not have oft or ecutek, i was thinking about using a tactrix cable.

Anyone have experience with this? i know ill need the definitions and program to edit the tune other than that I can pretty much handle the rest.

Thanks fam.

Get a tactrix, pull his stock ROM (and SAVE IT) then download the OFT off the shelf tunes.

Compare this guy's stock tune to the tunes from OFT using the compare feature in romraider.
Then you will be able to see what OFT does for a "basic tune".
Go from there.

Tactrix flashing is a very technical process compared to OFT and Ecutek. If you're at all unsure of yourself (read steve99's thread on it), I would avoid flashing with it. Don't risk losing a friend!

You're in the US and don't need to pay hundreds of extra $$$ for shipping, so why not just go get an OFT and avoid the risk.

This. The oft functions as a logging and monitoring tool too. Just examine the cost and labor of a tactrix cable and an ultra gauge or similar vs an oft.

Totally, also it's just like when you build or mod a computer for a friend you immediately technically become the end all for all the issues that may arrive you become their tech support

You literally should just steer him into getting an OFT, you're already probably gonna use the Stage 1 ots tunes as a baseline....
