It's a niche product. The cost will be what the market will bear. If a lot of people are ordering them at this price, there is no reason to lower it. If nobody is ordering them, the price will come down or the vendor will stop selling them. Pretty straight forward economics...just look at the iPhone

$30-$40 is ok. Maybe they make a carbon fiber one for around $80.

@Shutter Go to http://www.quickparts.com/home.aspx and have them quote you a more reasonable cost to make these, For injection molded parts made from ABS/PC you would easily be able to sell these at a $25-$35 price.

Right now your cost is way too high..................

Yeah, not interested at that price point. Bring it down to around $40 and we're talking.

Let's see here. So you are saying that if someone shelled out $15k for aluminum injection molds and the per unit cost is say $5 (not including packaging, adhesive, etc.) and retail is $35, how many units would you have to sell to break even? (the answer is 500 units)

How many automatic FT86's have been made? What percentage of owners would purchase these parts at that price point? How many parts would be sold per month? What is the ROI and rate of return? What is your risk tolerance? Are you selling directly to the public or are you doing wholesale? If you are doing wholesale, how much margin are your dealers getting to make it worth their while to sell your product? Now what's your ROI?

Keep in mind that this doesn't include the R&D, design time, wages of the people or person doing the design, marketing costs, packaging costs, credit card/Paypal processing fees, taxes, overhead, etc.

This isn't the first time I've seen people balking at prices on this forum and someone comes in like they know what they're talking about telling other people how to price their products. If you are such a savvy business person and/or have the skills to make the product that you are criticizing, then do it yourself. Or, just accept that you simply can't afford it even though you want it.

Seriously though, there are a lot of talented people out there that are making cool products for this platform. A lot of people pouring their personal savings, passion, drive, perseverance, experience, skill and knowledge into a product that they think other people would enjoy as much as they do themselves. I personally admire that a lot and have a ton of respect for the people that do it. As such, they have a right to charge what they think is a fair price for the work they have put in. That's my .02

Well apparently you did not bother to see the other methods of molding they have.....sorry if my trying to HELP you upset you so much.

But your last paragraph spelled it out...........as long as you think the price is fair and your making your fortune.......

.............. two pieces of plastic selling for $100 bucks + is just too high

Actually, I looked at all the options they have. Ironically, their silicone molding with polyurethane casts are exactly on target for a $109 selling price. Lower capital investment with a much higher per unit cost which is just about right for a niche product in a niche market.

No fortune to be made with these parts no matter how you dice it: whether you do low volume, high per unit cost with low capital investment or you shoot for massive volume, low per unit cost and high capital investment. The only difference is that the latter option means that you can get it for cheap and the company investing the money would be better off putting their capital into a CD instead since they at least get a guaranteed return on investment. Which is ultimately why no other company has done it. The opportunity cost of doing what you suggest pales in comparison to other investment options especially if you consider the risk/reward factor.

All I'm saying is that there are a variety of different manufacturing processes with their associated pros and cons. Just because you have your favorite method doesn't mean it is applicable to every situation when you look at the big picture and truly analyze it from a business perspective while considering the market. Implying that your method is the superior choice just goes to show that you haven't really looked at the big picture or considered things from more than one perspective: the consumer's. Which, from your point of view is the only thing that matters and while that is fine for you, it does not put you in a position to tell a company how they should do things since it is not your capital that is potentially being squandered.

All I know is the Stark Paddle Extensions look and feel great in the car.

There are tons of people out there who spend thousands on "performance" mods to bump our horsepower from 160whp to 180whp. Whoa. Buckle your seatbelts! No big deal, it was only $300 per hp!
Pathetic.
Not pathetic to increase performance, but pathetic that we will spend TONS of money to marginally increase power/speed performance, but wont spend a hundred bucks on something we're gonna touch everyday.

The paddle shift extensions provide EXACTLY what this car is about, the feel of the car and the way it handles. In this case, it smacks the nail right on the head with the "feel" part. They enhance the driving experience when cruising down the road or hitting the canyons on the weekend.

You could just model it and then 3d print it...
there are a bunch of places that have 3d printers you can use now.
