I don't think so. What does your smog report look like?

Why are you smogging?

In that case, make sure you flash back to OTS Stage 2 when you put your header back on

Argh. Only stalling very occasionally now. Sometimes when I'll downshift to 2nd for a red light and then right when I'm crawling at like 6mph or so and coming to a complete stop, the light changes to green. But what I do is I go to pretty much a complete stop, put the clutch down, and then shift to 1st from 2nd, basically, but then since 2nd is higher ratio I end up stalling. Not all the time but once in a while.

Should I just stay at 2nd gear if the light is about to change and I'm coming to a stop?

I'm don't know what your previous setup was but based on my experience with ODB2 cars the "oxygen sensors not ready" result is a symptom of not driving enough after resetting your ECU.

I don't think I've ever stalled 2nd before, even from a stop. But why do you shift into 2nd so soon?

Well what you've just described here is basically a "no win situation" in terms of stick shift driving. There's no "correct action" that you can take as a response to this happening.

The way I figure it, you have three choices.

1.) Clutch in, shift into first gear, and start to bring your revs up ~200-300rpm higher than usual as you clutch out and engage first gear. First gear isn't really meant to be downshifted into like this, so it's very difficult to do so without it lurching a lot. The key is more gas/revs than usual since first gear will probably be at a higher RPM that you are expecting.

2.) Clutch in, leave the shifter in second, and then start revving it up with a fair amount of gas. SLOWLY release the clutch and engage second at what is almost certainly a lower RPM than you normally would, so as you do, continue to give more gas than a normal second gear engagement.

Hopefully the extra gas will allow you to slightly accelerate as you engage the gear, and get some extra speed/inertia/momentum going, so that as you fully engage it's not lugging the engine or as hard to engage at the lower speed/rpm.

3.) Clutch in, shift into neutral, and apply the brake to come to a complete stop. Shift into first as normal and start out briskly since you just held up the person behind you a bit and didn't "react" to the traffic light as quickly as you should have, in their mind.

This third option is what I typically do because in a way it's the easiest for me if I'm being lazy and don't feel like trying to rev match first, or ride out second without lagging/riding the clutch. I really don't care if the person behind me is delayed and has to wait an extra amount of time to get going off the light. Haven't been honked at yet!
