I don't think most of the buff mags have all bad drivers. I'm sure most of them are competent. But there's a reason Motortrend hires Pobst, and it's not like Pobst is the best driver there is. He's just a great combo of communicating and driving.

Just crap journalism.
Apart from the errors (I mean if you are going to point something out, have an idea on what the fuck you are talking about), my biggest gripe is actually how they spent a bare handful of paragraphs on the GR86 and filled that content not with how it performed, but talking about (mostly mistaken) differences between the twins. Left wanting to be honest. |

The fact the GR86/BRZ is in this test and photographed with those cars is super cool. Car and Drivers test should have more data and detail. Motortrends test will have the most in depth data and scientific/ technical data.
yes, consistent and accurate information should be provided. However, Road and track are just a bunch of girls and guys having a great time and trying to give as much detail with a small team. They are enthusiasts too. Road and track did a good job. |

It's annoying that you get A LOT of information about the winner, but "so so" levels of information about the other cars. Just devote the entire issue to PCOTY and flood us with data. Nobody freaking does that anymore.

Should just be renamed Porsche Car Of The Year at this point lol.
Edit, yeah that doesn't make any sense to me either. Leaving here in case someone likes bad jokes... |

Data?! Data?! Where we're going we don't need data! It's all anecdotal from here on out!

It's cringey when auto-journo color commentary is laid on thick. There's real value in it though if it's coming from someone whose taste in cars lines up with your own. Data schmata.
The new twins would never have shown up on my radar if I hadn't got the impression from all these guys that it's something special despite still being unimpressive on paper (though the improvements definitely helped me get there..) |
