I agree that prices of used cars stay higher in US and Europe. Nevertheless, the difference is not that huge comparing to Japan. They might buy much cheaper (1/3rd of price), but taxing and inspection fees remain high for an older car. Let's see how pricing will evolve when new model appears in dealerships.

They addressed people that cannot afford to pay much (e.g. buy a new one and tune it from day one) and if a light-tuned first generation is still relevant compared to the new generation. I believe Mario Takano mentioned in the video that he took a loan to buy the new car with the additional STi dry carbon wing.

Its japan, you pay respect to the king, of course his car is the best and he paid nothing for his used car and his mods!

I don't think they are saying that his car is the best just to show respect. There is another video (in English) that they are saying Tsuchiya's tuned car is like having a 2.5 NA engine and Orido's tuned car with the S/C is like having a 3.0 NA engine.

Ummmmmmm And also the GTR, one of the coolest cars ever made. I understand why people have some complaints with Nissan, but they also don’t get the credit they deserve. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Just wait a bit, the chip shortage will end, prices will go back to normal and you will be able to pick up used 22 86s for cheap in a few years. Everyone will claim it’s the greatest thing since they bought it (got to keep that brain happy) and then they will realize it’s still slow. Shit I would buy a new one, but my 16 is paid off and perfect for my 119 mile commute 3 times a week. It’s not likely any better on a highway for an hour and why take the depreciation hit again. Although I don’t love the styling, if it was time for a new one, I would buy it for sure. These cars are just fun.

I would be more happy if they offered a slightly evolved FA20 engine like the S2K. Maybe a FA22 version would be the sweet spot. Issue with new engine is that it went much bigger and caused to have in certain markets an additional tax amount. Subaru will not bring the BRZ in Europe at all and I bet GR86 will be more expensive than the GR Yaris with its 1.6T engine. Which one would you buy if you could choose? The GR Yaris or the GR86? So, the market of the new car is already smaller.

AWD is not RWD. Unless your on a purposely made wet track and your chris harris, you wont find yourself making sweet drifts or counter steering your way to glory each corner as you find the grip. Its going to go blaaaaaaaaah into understeer shitness on the limit. Admittedly the limit is high, so your speed wil be pretty high which is always fun. But still blaaaaaaah. There are 60+ used GR Yaris on the main Australian car sales website... :O. |
