It's so we don't confuse it with the other one.

Today I learned apprentices don't hear what I tell them explicitly not to do. So they do things exactly the way they can't be done...

Thought most people had heard of the Mutiny on the Bounty. You know Capt. Bligh and Fletcher Christian. Pitcairn Island was the mutineers eventually settled, burning the Bounty on arrival.

Today I learned that the worst peace time attack on a US Navy ship (a 2 hour assault with torpedo boats and aircraft resulting in 34 dead) was carried out the USS Liberty.

They hear, they just don't understand the "not". Always show/tell what to do.
Though I never did hear what my painting instructor referred to when he started "I hope you don't... Oh, let's see what you do" and then the next week "oh, you did. Too bad."
So maybe just always wire up a way to give them a tickle of juice when they start doing things wrong... Gentle nudges in the right direction. Works for rats learning to navigate a maze...
Which reminds me,one of my pre-amps has a nice vib on the front plate when it's powered off.

TIL that some people change their engine oil by sucking out the oil with a pump, instead of draining the oil like the good lord intended.

Interesting concept. The more you know.
