It's been interesting to see these leaked pics.. I realize a new generation of Twin is going to have to be different in some ways to attract more buyers, but so far i am liking the cosmetics of the old model better so far. The new one does look nice however.. Granted the final sheetmetal could still be up in the air, but i think i miss the more prominent wheel bulges the most. I think the newer more resembles an cross of a Twin and the S13 front end.

As for the FA24, i am suspecting the >7000 RPM redline is a thing of the past, if the true torque peak of FA24 is 5500 RPM, and it shows typical N/A torque behavior beyond that. I'm guessing a 6500 to 6700 RPM redline for the 220 HP number if torque rolls off to 170 lbft by that RPM..

The >7000 RPM redline should still be there and in theory could go higher. The FA24 is a wider bore of the FA20 and not stroke. Being an over-square design and having the new beehive valve springs that are smaller at the top, wider in the middle, and smaller on the bottom making them stronger, which helps handle more pressure and higher revs apparently.

A higher revving N/A motor would be pretty exciting but I guess we‘ll still have to wait and see.

Heh, it's just a guesstimation, but i suspect they shifted peak torque down in rev band, since people love to bitch so much about the dip in the previous motor. And 170/175 lb foot at higher RPM's would be more like 240/250 HP level..

I hope it's high revving, tbh, but will see in any event

Just because there's not one in the spy shots, doesn't mean there won't be one in production.
Whether it's up top or below, bet it will be a bigger screen and have all the connected app features

What if it is still FA20D with increased 8500 rpm redline and 230hp?

First clear look at GR86 / BRZ prototype during testing

Not with modern emissions standards. The head already doesn’t flow well past 7k anyway.

They would have to do pretty extensive changes to support that RPM. Mostly lubrication.

I wouldn't trust a high revving Subaru motor. Mine lost a rocker leaving a stoplight

I lost a engine from ejecting a rocker too. It was in between a 3-4 shift at redline though.

Given the accuracy of the Bestcar render, it is safe to assume there are hips on both the front and rear wheels, but we can't see them. I'm not sure about that extra line on the rear fender. It might be an artist mistake.

This is just my personal opinion, but I'm happy to see that they got rid of the butt ugly triangular form in the 4th brake light for a more trapezoidal element. I really don't have much to nitpick about my 2017 other than that crab/owl face that I always see when I look at the rear of the car.

Still excited to see the reveal though. I've been lurking here in the background for a few years and now I finally decide to join in on the fun when there's a new model on the horizon haha.

Nice to meet you all!
Is it just me or is the rear wheel a larger diameter?

Yeah I don’t see that extra line on the test car either. I’m hoping the camo is messing with us (kind of its job lol) and preventing us from seeing the prominence of the hips. I would be sad too if the hips were drastically reduced.
