Right tools for the job. I did mine the dumb way, finish sanding by hand. I should buy a good orbital sander.

Found my other small old pan. Found both in the camp kit. I don't think I've been in the camp kit in 20 years. Finding some good stuff.

Birthday lunch #1. Finally tried a local popular spot called Los Gatos Meats and Smokehouse (Sapphireho very likely knows of it).

I ordered the "slow burn" sandwich, with marinated smoked tri tip, spicy chipotle bbq sauce, honey mustard, pickled peppers, red onion, tomato, and smoked cheddar. On dutch crunch roll.

So good.

Los Gatos meats???

Just a bit. For years growing up we took all our game there for processing. A friend of mine worked there for years in my 20s and 30s.

If you want something special, get one of their marinated tri-tips. They have like a cement mixer tumbler. Expensive, but crazy good. I love how when you want a filet they put the tenderloin on the counter and ask you where to cut.

They also usually have great ostrich steaks and other crazy meats. Their jerky and meat sticks are usually fantastic.

I'm going to be in SJ thursday. I'll have to go there.

Oh Spike, also, another place for a great tri tip sandwich is Redwood Keg Liquor & Deli in Boulder Creek on HWY 9.

Plus a great drive.

While waiting I kept looking through the meat coolers along the wall; they have so many good-looking meats ().

Would love to bbq some of them sometime. The tritip on the sandwich was great but would definitely enjoy it on its own sometime.

Yesterday I got bbq with my parents to celebrate both mine and my mom's birthdays.

Fatty, juicy, smoky brisket (it wasn't egregious but my dad wanted a leaner cut, lol) and 4 pork ribs:

My sides were beans and potato salad this time. I also like the pickled jalapenos and onions they serve with it and wish they put more on the sheet.

Some hamachi, amaebi, unagi, and my wife's gyoza and tempura. Forgot to take a pic of my tataki appetizer. It was pretty.

They were out of toro.

There's a donut/breakfast sandwich spot nearby that I haven't tried but always smell when I walk Haru by late at night (while theyre making the donuts ).

So I finally tried it today. Sausage, egg, and cheese on a jalapeno cheddar bagel:

Also got a couple donuts but haven't tried yet because the sandwich filled me right up. Oh and they sell vietnamese iced coffee aka liquid crack so I got that too.
