Shipping BRZ from NY to CA

Hi everyone,

I just sent off my BRZ starting in Liverpool, NY in a real fun snow storm. Almost didn't make it to the pickup point. It will be traveling across the country throughout the next week with a final destination of Fremont, CA.

I used Montway to find a trucker and so far the experience has been pretty simple. In the end, the total cost will be $1300. The guy driving seemed really cool and liked the car a lot. He was nice enough to allow me to keep a bunch of stuff in the car as well.

Anyways, I'm looking to see if anyone has good and bad stories about shipping their car on a truck. I've read a few horror stories, so I'm aware of how things can go, but I'm optimistic of the outcome.

And if you see my WRB BRZ along the way, let me know! It's on the back of the bus and has NY plates.

Thanks!

Had my car shipped from Colorado to California when I bought it from Colorado. Once I make contact with the shipping company they put me in contact with the truck driver. And he would call me routinely to let me know where he was. Even had to have him drive the car last mile to my house cuz his truck would make it up the road. Just remember truckers are professionals just like anybody else and they do it well. I was very pleased with the whole transportation of my car .

It would be interesting to set up a GoPro somehow to record the whole trip. Always wondered how many times the car is off-loaded and re-loaded and where it happens...

BTW, did you check how much an enclosed carrier would have cost?

It was an extra $300 quoted for enclosed, but that doesn't tell how quickly I would have been able to find a driver, etc.

The policy of this company is that it will be on the same place of the truck when you load and it arrives.

I do have a dash cam installed. It normally runs 24-7, but with the cold it will kill the car battery. Instead, I've got it set to record if the car is on. So every time the car starts I'll be able to look at the footage. The cam will also power it's GPS when it turns on. So if anything happens with the car powered I should have a good idea of what is going on or what happens and where.

I wish I had an alternate power source so that I could have it recording the whole trip.

They'd have to pick up and drop off in just the right sequence to accomplish that.

You'll find out soon enough when you view the video!

I agree. Didn't make too much sense, but I talked to the trucker about the cam... Said he should get one for his truck. I think he got the hint.

Let us know when it makes it out to the bay area - then you can come out for a drive!
