An acquaintance of my wife rents a room in an apartment. That is, she has her bedroom to call her own.To say her living arrangement is insecure is a bit of an understatement. All her stuff is packable into a couple of large suitcases because she has to frequently move.

I look at all the stuff in our house, and the history that goes along with it, thinking I hope I never have to move.

-tshirt I got when I worked at Pizza Factory (‘00?) in high school & currently using em when I work on the car, house or blacksmithing.
-Electric shaver I bought summer of ‘02. Battery is dead, so it need to be plugged in to used it.

If you wanna count games, I do have PS1 console & games. Even Dreamcast console & games too.

Rest? I donate, throw away or give away.

Yeah it’s super dependent on family background.

My parents are fairly similar holding onto things for sentimental value. We think a good chunk of it is due to their parents (my grandparents) having dealt with the Depression and the Holocaust. Like my grandfather when he was young in Germany with his family lost their bakery and stuff because of the Nazis.

So long story short it’s almost like a hereditary/learned behavior where we’re more predisposed to keep things even if some have worn out their real usefulness because at one point for our family we (they really) were left with practically nothing.

So it’s kind of just like having the ability to keep things as long as you want (to a fault tho).

they do sometimes. on the show "Pickers", they went to a guy that moved his entire hoardings from a house to an old police station. i watched it a while back, want to say he said it took 4 semi trucks to move everything he had at the time.


i've got hoarding tendencies. too many people throw away things that work perfectly fine, just need a little bit of TLC.

my first snow blower, got out of the garbage, needed a $2 spark plug, and $15 carb because the rubber rotted out. my brother in law is still using it, and bragging to everyone how great it works. between the 2 of us, we've ran more gas through it than it's worth.

So because of the weather a lot of things I had ordered up to 2 weeks ago will all arrive within 1-3 days of each other starting Tuesday. UPS/ Amazon man is sure going to hate me O_o

College is such a sham.

I'm going through school stuff that I've had stored in my closet/bookshelves.

Books I spent hundreds of dollars on only to maybe read a chapter out of them, if that.

And now they're probably next to worthless.

I'm debating whether I want to keep my heavy, hardcover 3-semester calculus book. But if I haven't picked it up since I finished multivariable calculus, then am I ever really going to pick it up later??
