Still debating on whether I want to keep the WRX after the lease is up.
On one hand the thing will probably have fewer than 20k miles, and will possibly be worth more for a trade than the buy out. On the other, when I went out today I noticed that a shutter had fallen off the top floor of the neighbor's house and landed on the car. There are scratches going the whole way back the roof and a dent with the paint flaked off near the water channel. This will be the third body repair due to damage sustained to the car while I wasn't even in it. That's not including curbing the first two wheels of my life, paying to fix those, and then bending all four wheels by further driving like a moron. I don't consider myself the superstitious type, but starting to think this thing is cursed. Oh yeah, Happy Holidays and stuff. |

Right?! I've been playing with it all day. It vibrates because the LEDs are laid out on only one blade. Time for DIY balance mod.

Currently on a 3am racoon stakeout.
FYI: Time doesn't fly when your sitting in the cold, dark trying to not make a sound. He's knocked over the bottle placed to alert me when he's left the soffit but ended up retreating back inside. Soon as he's out I'm closing off his door!

Those little masked bandits are hard to get rid of. Had one lift a soffit up go in and close it behind him. I was at a point that i got 22 bird shot and was going to get him while in the attic. Saw him leave when i opened the ceiling trap door with the gun and was able to lock him out. Just glad it was not a girl with little ones.

As for the wheels, the rule (I actually forgot the name already) is intended for PennDOT damaging stationary property. Like running over a mailbox. Since I was driving the car, even though it was a construction zone with unmarked lip, I am at fault and they wanted no part of it. Didn't feel like it was worth pursuing a lawyer or anything to argue it, since really I agree with them. |

not to mention, with all the highway miles he puts on, a bigger motor is likely even more of a detractor.

i know he got the hakone bc it was up in the air if subaru was going to ruin a good thing, but it *appears* that they are not going ruining it, which is nice. people can then say never buy a first year, let them sort out problems. but if anything, the 2022 is more of a revision rather than a fresh slate. so i think they would have corrected all the problems using the first gen as guinea pigs. hes probably on family holiday vacations. so while on the surface hes adimate about loving the hakone(i would too) i think being part of the next gen scene would be a special thing. i only wish i didnt just build a widebody 13 last year that im stuck with now haha. if i didnt mod my car, i could turn around and sell it for what i bought it for(used).

mostly brand new motor design though, which is where most of the teething issues with a new platform always are anyways.
a lot about the new interior irritates me. the digital dash, never, unless it's got unlimited configurations, because i can all but guarantee the monitoring options i want ( i want ALL the temperatures. intake air, oil, trans, rear diff, and water, all in a number format, no H/L indication) on a digital dash won't be there. and that dust-collector useless lip above the glove box. just useless design space. i'm still going to test drive one, likely in 2023 once the hype dies down, but the simplicity of what i've got is still much more appealing. but of course, i cross-shopped the new 86 with 1980-1990 manual rwd vehicles, so my interior standards are very different than most of the market anymore. i love the digital clock!

I'd imagine that will improve the clarity a bit. It looks pretty good as is.
