Voltage fluctuation looks normal, it will change with engine speed.

I would clean the MAF to start and check for connection on the intake. Is the sound generator properly mounted? Loose hose clamp? How does the air filter look? Is it seated properly in the air box?

How did you buy the car, was it private party? Did it sit for a long time on a lot?

I'll take a look at the maf, sound generator, and some of the hose clamps/vacuum lines. I took a look at the filter and it seemed fine but I figured I'd replace it anyway. Its properly mounted.

Bought from a dealership, but i couldn't tell you how long it'd been sitting because it got transferred.

I'll keep checking things out. Might take it in to Subaru just to get their opinion.

I took at look at Steve99's signature but I could not see a section where he addresses an issue like this (or really PI kicking in too early at all). Is there something I am missing. It seems most of his stuff is based on OFT/other types of tuning.

Oh don't worry I read it. Two things.

#1: The word "idle" is not used a single time in Steve's "OFT Tips and Tricks" writeup, and the idle dip problem only gets touched on briefly in his other writeups.

#2: I don't own an Open Flash Tablet

Not really sure why you recommended this to me.

first, Schweiz, i just answered in general to the thread why the stock map has the problem

you answered interested, and it s your problem if you doin t have a flashing device, i do not care at all

it s not going to magically change if you keep it stock... at least you found what I was referring to, it took you 2 days but it s ok

i just answered again to better remember your name and avoid answering to you totally from now on

Schweiz, I'm not going to imply you're dumb for not having an OFT to fix this.

My recommendation to clean the throttle was based on this sort of behaviour on many cars stems from that component, it's easy quick and cheap to do and even if that wasn't the problem, it's a good, often overlooked maintenance step.

Now, though the voltage variation is normal, the idle fluctuation isn't, and since it's not caused by the AC, it is caused by something. Unfortunately to offer further constructive help over the internet would be hard without having the car and being able to look at live engine data about what it's doing and what it's trying to do. We could try to extrapolate from now 'till the morning but since it's not an issue I've dealt with, I'll have to gracefully bow out.

Sorry but I think you're being over-dramatic and, quite frankly, a douche.

Sure, Schweiz could've maybe done a better job researching; we all have our moments where we try for a while and maybe don't find something where someone else would have.

But that's not an issue worth making such a huge fuss over. So the guy missed it and you're going to "avoid answering [him] totally from now on"?

So if the guy wants recommendations on tires or something he's now considered too below your respect to deserve any kind of useful opinion?

Like I said, that's a pretty douche-y move.

As someone who's frequented this forum since long before I owned the car, people like you disappoint me; there's no reason to be this callous with someone who's new to the platform and just trying to figure out if his experience is normal or not. Not to mention, him being new means he more than likely (obviously confirmed in this thread) hasn't even touched a device like OFT, let alone learned how to do datalogging or anything of the sort.

Well, now I know who to, what was it "avoid [reading your] comments totally from now on."
