My13-16 vs MY17+ Manual Transmission Differences

I searched, but searching for this topic seems especially difficult.

Are there any differences between model year manual transmissions? I might be in the market for something with less miles in the future, and I wanted to know if I need to be looking for something to match my 2013 transmission or if I could and should use a newer one.

I think the gearing changed but that might have been the final drive

I thought the same. I believe the final drive is changed, but not the gearing, yet I didn't know if they tweaked anything like they did with the engine.

I found this link, and it appears just 6th gear was strengthened. Seems odd, no?

Oddish that they chose 6th over 4th which has had more failures.

That's what I was thinking, and why was it even necessary on a 5hp gain?

I bet it's good for a half MPG highway as well as for marketing.

It seems like it should work. You should try it and report back

I installed a 2020 mt in my 13 frs auto. The only real difference I can see is the crankshaft sensor and the reluctor plate are different. Since I used 13 computers, I sayed with the 13 reluctor plate and sensor. Works fine

Is this plate accessible outside the transmission or does it have to be cracked open?

Its outside the transmission. Its sandwiched between the flywheel and the back of the crank. Remove the flywheel and it falls off.

Also, the reluctor plate/wheel is the same for the manual and the auto for the same years.
