If I find the post again I will link it. Somebody posted about it not long ago but I can't find it again.

Essentially what czellers says below.

In the past I used oft e85 maps stock and tweaked. I’m now on a flex fuel setup. It feels great if you can get e85 easily where you are.

I have to wonder...
Does ANY stock car come with a catch can ?
If not, why not?
My GTI comes with a turbocharger but no catch can. I've put 270,000 miles on it and it seems to run great still. Will it run better if I give it a catch can?

I don't see the worry about having one or not. I have the Cusco routed to the PCV and the tubes are a little brownish but there isn't much in the can.

To FULLY quantify an answer, you'd need to look at your valves...

Look at my valves?
How do I do that?
I broke a timing belt at about 200,000 miles and had to replace my head. 19 valves were bent, but other than that everything looked virtually new. Valves, pistons and cylinders were pristine. (Except for the bent valves). And that's on conventional oil. Never used synthetic on that car.
So I'm thinking that any oil that does make it into the intake gets burned pretty cleanly.
If any makes it that far at all.

Because passing emission laws is more important than the longevity of your engine to an OEM.

Good answer!
I never thought about that.
The same reason why OEM cars don't come with an optimal tune.

I have yet to see a post or any type of information showing decreased longevity or failure with our engine because of not running a catch can. I have had my intake manifold off at over 75K miles on my car and there was no buildup of oil residue in the manifold and nothing out of the ordinary as far as intake port buildup. My car is NA, 7600RPM rev limit, 7500 mile oil changes. Except for 2020 it was tracked about 6 times a year on average. I have never noticed a change in oil level between oil changes except for one time when I ran Mobil 1.

I still can't figure out what you guys are on about in regards to a catch can. To me it sees you are just scaring each other, or trying to justify a purchase. Even a few ounces of oil over the course of 5k miles is really not that much if you are running the car hard. I have never experienced that, but I wouldn't be that concerned with it. Even if it was going into the intake.

I think it's kinda like a diamond earring.
It doesn't really do anything. But it makes some people feel good.

If people run them and it gives them piece of mind If they want to post up with their experiences as far as quantity of oil it is catching at what intervals Acting like it is an important mod, especially for a primarily street driven NA car
