Added a couple goodies to the list for next year.

Stumbled across this set of Drag Cartel DICs locally. Should add a little spice!


Then, while browsing Ebay, I came across these. I don't have high hopes that this will be THE solution to my brake temps but it's worth a try. With the K24 being so narrow, I think it could open up some new creative hose routing opportunities. Maybe it just ends up killing my rotors faster.

I didn't want to sacrifice the the OEM ECU housing so I printed one.


Also, thanks to RedReplicant for pointing these out! PCI sphericals for the FLCA. I'll slowly be looking to replace the remaining rubber bushings with sphericals as well.


After some digging, it looks like the both trailing arm bushings are the same according to Subaru and Cusco. Replacing these are definitely on the short list.


Apparently I never posted the new gurney I made this summer for the Hood vent. Printed in CF PETG.

Went ahead and pulled the trigger on sphericals for the trailing arm. I chose these because they are rebuildable and use off the shelf bearings.

Got the car back out of storage so I can get back to work.

-ECU is mounted and hooked up.
-Fuel lines are done but I still need to pump out the old e85
-Really just picking at the little stuff now but I need to get started on the exhaust asap.


Looking at the schedule....time is getting tight.

Quick update while I dig into the exhaust. ASM's sale on the WF throttle body adapter was enough to push me over the edge. Yes it's a ridiculous amount of money for an adapter, but if it keeps me from having issues, it's worth it.

Big update!!

What did I get myself into...


Connection from the header to the catback. I chose to use the OEM style mounting point off the transmission.


I printed a little mount for the intake that allows it to move a bit.


I got the OEM DS shortened, I might still try the aluminum DS in the future.


IT LIVES!!!!


It goes for tuning at ASM on Sunday

I still have a few issues (most of which I hope the tuner can fix);
-The idle is too high when cold and too low when warm
-Oil temp is incorrect, and I have a "Oil temp wiring" error
-I sometimes get a trigger error, but that might related to the low idle
-It doesn't start 100% of time time, it's like the starter/flywheel doesn't always mesh correctly.
-I don't know if I ever posted about it, but I bought the HKS single catback and it is OMG loud. Louder than I feared, LOL.


BTW huge thanks to all those that helped sort issues before me!!!!!

Got the car bled...I think, at least the t-stat opens now.

Also pulled an all-nighter and dropped the DC DIC cams in.

Things didn't end with the above post. I didn't bother swapping the VTC gear as the DC cams came with a PND 50* gear on it. Of course when I started it up it rattled like crazy. So, I got to pull the cams out again to swap gears. Whatever jerkoff that put the PND gear on the DC cams clearly had no intention of ever taking it off, aka torque specs are for suckers.... Anyway, while I was in there I put the limiter in there, thanks to RedReplicant for supplying that!



In the end, I drove it around for a while without overheating, loaded it up and it's at the tuner now. The anticipation is killing me.

I didn't want to sacrifice my Aim obd cable so I made an adapter for now.


I underplayed it, but when I drove it on the base map I started questioning my life choices and panic set in that I screwed something up, it was slow AF!
Fast-forward and tuning went well and no issues on the dyno.
Here is the overlay. Different dynos and all that but should be somewhat close. 226hp/198hp


I literally picked it up from the tuner on the way to Road America, do or die.


The payoff....zero issues over two days on track. A small miracle and a credit to all those that helped along the way.
I dropped 4.5s off my previous best and had another couple tenths on by best lap had I not screwed up the last corner. Watching the predictive time count up as I'm coming up the main straight was sooo painful.
The car felt dialed, the k24 sounds and feels aggressive, overall good time!

Here is a trace from turn 14 (last corner) up the main straight with the fa20 and K24. even with a worse drive out of the corner, roughly 7mph!!


The bad?
I'll be honest, despite being faster, it didn't feel as fast as I expected, maybe because the powerband is so fat.
Also, I threw it on the scales when I got home. 2646 which when corrected for fuel and different wheels works out to about 24lbs lighter than the fa20. I was really expecting more weight loss than this. However, the modified s2k header is heavy, the HKS exhaust is heavy, the oem driveshaft is heavy, I shouldn't be surprised.

I have plenty of stuff to do still but mostly minor items.

So is that a haltec connector wired into a obd2 port so you can connect your aim setup via obd2 port instead of hard wiring to can H/L ?

As someone who dreams of a k24 swap… Thanks for sharing all this stuff very informative!

The Aim cable I have connects to the OBD2 port. I didn't want to cut it up before I knew I could pull data from the haltech. This is just a jumper between the haltech and the aim cable. The Haltech rebroadcasts all of the car data over the CAN so now I get both the ecu and car data. Credit to Redreplicant for figuring it out. Aim to Haltech connection

I took a little harder look at the engine vitals throughout the weekend. Oil temp and coolant temp look solid. I am seeing some oil pressure dips under braking. It's dropping to mid to upper 30s (psi) so while I'm not thrilled, I'm not panicked either. I already fill the oil to the curve in the stick.


While I never had a braking issue on track, I also wasn't comfortable operating over the rated temp ranges for brake pads and fluid. I found this Brembo GT kit on ebay. It's almost comical how much larger the calipers are.

I will be doing an overfill for my next track day to help with pressure drops I am seeing. How much oil are you using ? I was thinking to do an even 6L of total oil. which should be a 0.5L overfill.

Also is that GT brake kit similar to the one CSG sells ?
