I have heard of Erector Sets but were never part of my childhood. Meccano on the other hand was something my brothers had while I looked on.

Mmmm, doing a quick picture search, Meccano and Erector look quite similar.

Meccano was the original that was sold in the UK and Commonwealth countries.
There is an awful movie called The Man Who Saved Christmas staring Jason Alexander about the guy that "invents" Erector in the US to have toys during WW1. Good for you George you invented something that it was an exact copy of something that had already been around for 20 years or so at that time.
Meccano bought Erector a few years back and both are now owned by a Canadian company.

I used to love going to my grandparents house and using my uncles old Meccano set. It was still a wooden box set so probably went back to the late 40s or very early 50s. It was also surprisingly intact for it's age. I sometimes wonder what ever happened to it.

Today I learned that having a cold and having diarrhea at the same time is not fun.

I shat myself a little bit when I sneezed.
