A game of "identify this overpipe"

So I just recently bought an overpipe second hand, as it was advertised as a Motiv overpipe, but upon receiving the item I realized it is missing the motiv plaque. the seller claims he bought it from his best friend and that the said friend bought it from ft86speedfactory and that it was a Motiv overpipe.

Now, I'm just curious as to see what this is. I know I can get my money back through paypal, but I'm genuinely curious

let the game begin!

Looks like my PLM (Private Label Manufacturing). I went to buy a motiv and they were out of stock so I had them switch me over to a PLM. They're all 2.5inch OPs anyway.

PLM only has 3 weld seams, not 4.

Detective skills sharpened, but no discoveries yet, 'cept that I thought that the Motiv Test Pipes might be plaque-free.

Sorry to say that the Test Pipes are branded as well. I saw it myself in an installation video; the kid installing even said you put the "end with label in first, pointing up."

Undaunted, I will keep searching!

Does it really matter so long as it works? I know you paid for a Motiv but... :shrug:

Probably not. But if one pipe has four sections (three welds) and another pipe has five sections (four welds), certainly that suggests a different design. And if that doesn't matter, then we may as well just buy the cheapest we can find, no?

Assuming they mate up properly. If a cheap one doesn't fit straight then it isn't worth it. That being said, I got a Jonmotoring over pipe cuz it was filthy cheap and it seems to fit fine. It's not a heavy wear item or something like a catback where the sound may change. I think it's one of those rare items(like the reverse lockout) that can probably be cheaped on

When I see a $305 price tag on a few inches of pipe, it makes me happy to have a tig welder out in the garage and the knowledge of how to use it.

Most over pipes are hand made in a jig so the weld points will not be exactly the same. Look at the point of the bends to identify the pipe.
Now could this be another brand? Yes that's possible but with the weld count and the bend location I'm going with my original answer...
JDl, PPE, and a host of others all hand make their parts. I think ACE has a automated assembly.
