False. I don't need to drive stick to prove I have one.

I drive an auto because traffic. And coffee. Must have free hand for coffee. But I'm a girl so I don't have to worry about my manhood. I have learned that the people at meets that care about your transmission are not the ones you want to hang out with anyway.

LA traffic is horrible, too (as if I have to tell anyone that).

I would love a manual if it made sense for me, but I am very happy with the automatic in both my vehicles (wife's FRS & my Camaro).

And, I guess I'm too old to care about what others think about my automatic. When I sit down behind the wheel of either one... I'll always be grinnin' from ear-to-ear!

WOW, I really hope this was tongue in cheek.

One, now I'm older from when having a manual actually did mean something, although I also am from the drag racing crowd where the faster cars were usually the beefed up autos...

Any more, the autos have paddle shifters, manual modes, that make having an auto really no different except in some rare occasions, and launching if you don't have a trans brake or higher rated torque converter/valve job etc. So, ummmm, if you really think someone saying "You drive an auto?" threatens your manhood, then I feel sorry for you...

Pretty much everything that isn't incredibly expensive.

I probably take flack from co-workers once-or-twice each month, which is strange, since I usually just smile and nod. It just doesn't bother me. I've owned a half-dozen Japanese and Italian classics with manual gearboxes. I figure no one there has anything on me. I really believe it's a jelousy thing.

I love my little auto now. I can enjoy my coffee on the way to work. Instant downshifts with the left paddle, without the need to select "manual" mode. Reverts back to auto after a few seconds of inactivity. It's very well thought out for such a reasonably priced car. :-)

I've said it before and will say it again. I love my automatic. Like others have said, full automatic mode sucks, but sport and manual is really great.
