It looks surprisingly good for hitting two deer!

Maybe because of the height of the car and the pointed front-end?

I clipped a deer in a Honda del sol once (upper thigh vs front bumper), and besides sending the deer flying through the air up into the trees and off into the woods, surprisingly, it did little damage; just a little dent on the hood. I had always imagined that if I hit a deer in that car, it would come through the windshield and kill me. However, I suppose I forgot to take into account the physics during such a situation, which would argue that the direction and force of motion of my car being applied to the deer would naturally then be transferred into the deer. Thus, in a sense, the deer would be repelled, in most cases.

The one that rolled over the car must have been a doe. If it was a buck there would have been a lot more damage from the antlers.

That doesn't look bad for hitting two of the things. Glad you guys are alright.

Funny story: I was on a road trip with some friends and while one of the guys was driving at night through a somewhat wooded area any time he saw deer in the road he would speed up. We freaked out a little bit and asked him, "wtf dude, why are you speeding up?" He told us that he thought that's what you were supposed to do to scare them off the road. I guess he never fully thought out the expression of, "deer in headlights".

Glad I put off my Jackson trip this weekend! I've had more close encounters around that area than everywhere else combined. Seen a few moose taken out by trucks as well.

Depends on the state. Some you can, some you can't.

I hate deer, really. When I lived in NJ I hit 4 of them with my first car and 1 in my second. I know it sounds bad but they were all unavoidable. The last one I technically did not hit it "jumped" into my car.

I was driving and came over hill, as I hit the top and started going downhill I saw a deer in the opposite lane. I slowed down safely and tried to go to the opposite side. As I was moving away the deer charged my car and lept onto the hood.

There was no damage to the front bumper or anything. It was so crazy that my insurance adjuster didn't believe it was a deer hit until I showed him bits of deer in the headlight and hood.

Also the damn things are resilient, they all walked away from the hits.

I try to eat venison as much as I can now.
