If you really want the BRZ now, then get it now. If there is a power upgrade for 2015 and at that point feel the upgrade is worth it you could use your BRZ as a trade in or sell it to help pay for the new one.

I agree I would get it now you'll be waiting several years before they do a revamp version specially since it's so popular now they wouldn't dare make any huge changes to the engine. Plus I barley made it 4 months when I ordered mine after test driving an FR-S (only because that was the only kind around me to test drive) before I got mine but did because I wanted a GBS Limited. You won't be left out in the cold if you get it now that's for sure.

In 2015, you will speculate on buying the 2018 model with 500hp.

Same here. I wanted a GBS Limited. I'm not disappointed with my decision

Why not just wait for the 2020 full electric BRZ?

Probably because most people view electric power as a downgrade.

If you wait till 2015 you will want to wait again because the rumors will be out about what to expect in 2017. You could end up waiting for the next better thing for the rest of your life. Enjoy one now and, if and when they come out with something you like better, trade for it.

If you are reasonably content with your current car and are wanting to get an "ideal" car your yourself, and the twins are lacking for you in their current form, then wait. Despite what all the nay-sayers here opine, given where they are in prototype testing based on that article, I think chances are very good the bump up will be for the 15 MY.

That is the plan!

MightyMeeple, not singling you out as I've seen several people misstate this.

Report states: "Tetsuya Tada, has finally admitted his team is developing a number of ways to increase performance of the showroom version; one of which will definitely make it to production when the 86receives its mid-life upgrade in 2015."

That's in the year 2015, which means 2016 model. Not to be interpreted as a 2015 model for sale next fall in 2014. So were talking 2+ years on this from today, if they actually do it.

There's no reason to wait for models that years out, when 2014 models haven't even hit the ground. When the 2016MY cars come out, will you wait the 2018MY cars for the upgrades they get?
