Coilover stud broke.. help
![]() ![]() Installed all three struts, of course got to the last one and the stud broke. Stud comes up maybe another inch so you can bolt down the top hat. They are st coilovers. I’m going to see if warranty will cover. If it doesn’t, does anyone have any ideas? It goes somewhat deep, i may be able to pull it out? Or maybe I can just take it to a machine shop and drill it out and put a new one in? |

I wouldn't mess around with that until you talk to ST first. I think they're gas pressurized shocks, but not sure if the shaft is hollow and pressurized or not.

Yeah definitely holding off. Maybe I can just buy one rear strut from ST if warranty doesn’t come through?

How did you manage to break it? They are tough studs.

Hulk smash! lmao dang man is there a torque value in the instructions? Might have cross threaded it during install or messed up one of the threads putting it through the chassis

I don't have ST but had the same thing happen when my coils got installed. Broke with very little force surprisingly and mine looks thicker in diameter even. There was damage to the middle threads so it started going on fine then caught part way down so was moving kinda fast.
Definitely go through ST for how to proceed. |

That sucks they won't just replace it, seems like if they cared about you owning their product they would cover it for an honest mistake, it's not like you did that to all 4 corners. And I take it these don't disassemble down to a replacement strut like my old parts shop max units did. Sorry about what happened to you.
