Both are already nearly equally great commuter cars but if you have to nitpick...

The BRZ Limited wins in a cold area because of its heated mirrors/seats. More leather surfaces add a touch of luxury.

The softer sprung FR-S is slightly more comfortable over bumpy roads.

Pick your poison but you won't die with either.

Scion badge *does* look a lot better than that ridiculous ballooney "3 ellipses" Toyota badge. Hated that badge from day one...

And because everyone is rebadging FR-S's as Toyota's, an unmolested original FR-S will be worth a mint one day! A mint I tell ya!!!!!

BRZ Limited for the interior, features, and simply not driving a Scion. I bet most of us coming from Porsche/BMW/Audi/Infiniti would tell you the LTD package is a steal.

The brand means nothing to me.. whether it's a Scion, Subaru, or 20-yr old Toyota coupe/2-seater

As a "commuter" car, I'd just take the less expensive option.. Nav, heated seats, and the front bumper doesn't make any difference to me.

I only option I DO like are the leather seats, but the FR-S has that too.. so I guess I'm going with the FR-S.. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...3&postcount=15

mine is a commuter car that will become my track car in a few years hopefully.
I drive ~140 miles occasionally and I feel fine.

So whats the verdict then? Is the BRZ premium worth it over the FRS? I cannot afford the limited at this time. It will be my DD, and I also want to drift. I'm leaning towards the BRZ due to the GPS and HID, but the suspension being more understeer happy is making me question my decision.I have to put the money down for one of them tomorrow, which one should I choose?

Yes it is worth it. Just the HIDs alone make it worthwhile. The seats are better and it has NAV. However, the NAV is highly in need for a software update. The car is much more rare too compared to the FR-S. Much better resale value down the road.

It boils down to personal choice.

In my case, the GPS in the BRZ is not worth the money, and HIDs do not matter to me. The FR-S headlights perform the function they were designed for and are as good as any other car lights I've ever had, and better than most. Since I didn't want (to pay for) either, they weren't worth the price differential.

If you want HIDs and think the NAV system in the BRZ is worth the cost, then your decision would be different than mine.

In the end, the original question remains which is the better commuter. The answer is its a tie. Other factors will determine which one you want.
