Why would you have to pay the deductible, if the other driver accepts fault, which he has basically already done?

Because in order to get things going, I would’ve had to contact his insurance, them sending an investigator, then arrange rental, tow, which is a slower process. My insurance would’ve been the faster route, and at any time the person’s at fault insurance will pick up the bill. Is just a possibility that the other insurance can neglect fault, highly unlikely at this point, but I needed to get things going.

OK. The other person's insurance should still (eventually) reimburse your deductible though. correct?

Geico set me up with a rental and they’ll be taking care of the car. I’ll eventually have to pay the deductible, that is if the other insurance accepts fault and they pick up the bill prior to me picking the vehicle up. Seems pretty straight forward since there’s plenty of documentation proving I wasn’t the one at fault. It just sucks man, I worked so hard for this car, while also working hard to take care of it, is just frustrating and upsetting. Could’ve been a lot worse, at least the guy owned up to it.

No fucking way.

That is exactly what happened to me, granted far less damage.

Chevy Silverado owned by a subcontractor backed into me at work, guy didn't notice or care and left.

I think even in my case I "paid" it, but the person at-fault's insurance sent me a reimbursement check right away.

On the bright side, the front bumper had some road debris damage, nothing alarming but enough for me and my OCD to notice. Now I’m getting another, brand new bumper. The front lip part I’ll have to figure out. It was a Bayson R so not expensive, just a pain to install.

When it's obvious, a good insurance won't ask for anything. It's their job to go after the other insurance, unless you only have liability, then they won't do anything.

Yeah, this.

The only problem I really had was that the inspector (on both sides actually because I tried seeing if they'd give different quotes) was next to useless.

All they did was provide an estimate for bondo and re-spraying my bumper.

It's _mostly_ alright, but the hood is still misaligned, which they couldn't fix, and the bumper always looks a bit off.

I think a new bumper or at least fixing the hood struts/alignment would've been better.

But they don't allow you to be picky. They just want to pay for the cheapest possible fix.

Baby ichi is born. She was very stubborn & docs tried to turn her one last time, but she parry away their hands. In the end, Mrs ichi went through c section. Both baby & Mrs ichi is fine. Both are exhausted & asleep now.
