It is also a 30 year old iron block low compression engine with sloppy internals that can forgive a lot of stress that tighter tolerance engines can't. There were loads of engines back then that could take power but they were not mentioned in movies so don't have the same legends around them.

Some of the old Chev and Chrysler V8s and straight sixs would live through things that would make even the 2JZ pack it in. Don't even get me started on what an old Dodge slant 6 could live through.

So the consensus seems to be that I would be better off just buying a used long block and direct swapping it into the car.
If I do a direct long block swap from a salvage, what else does that entail? New tune? What? Did everyone see the video I posted of the engine starting after I blew it? It’s the second or third post in here. Surprised I haven’t heard more feedback from that! |

OH and let's be clear that not all 2JZ engines are GTEs. There are probably thousands and thousands of the lesser versions of the engines around than the GTE. All 2JZs are not created equal.

Ge gte share crank, rods, block. ge head flows better. Gte had oil squirter and lower compression. I remember asking different dyno operators what was the highest hp cars they had on the dyno. The answer was always "believe or not it was a toyota" i was surprised the first couple of times. I think the vvt 2jzs had a little lighter weaker rods. And here is a video of my 2jz Last edited by solidsnake11; 02-20-2020 at 09:09 PM. |

Fingers crossed. I have a stage 2 IAG block going in. I hadn’t really heard much bad until now.

I wouldn't worry. You usually hear the horror stories while the success ones drive around happily silent.

I just would not waste any money on built engine and time fixing the blown engine. I would just get a low mileage, same year engine and swap it like they did below. And strap the turbo again, go back on the road.
