2022 Ford F150 Lightning [now electric]

Was secretly hoping for a bodykit, side pipes, chrome altezza's and a a big 'ol supercharger. Electric it is though.

Pretty mild in the styling. It's an f150 with your basic 2020 electric vehicle starter pack... tacked-on tesla tablet included.

It has the same awful dash design as the Mach E, which makes it an immediate non-starter for me.

I do like that they are building in the ability to feed the battery back into your house giving you a 3 to 10 day power feed during an outage.

Pricing starting at just shy of $40K isn't awful either.

Personally, I thought the Mustang Mach E GT was much better looking than I expected it to be.

Overall, I think I'll be waiting to see what the GM Silverado EV looks like first, but I could see me buying one of these.

I thought this was supposed to be based on the Rivian R1T. But is this a new platform that is Ford specific?

So, the cheapest F-150 SuperCrew with the NA3.3 V6 I can build on Ford.com ends up being $40K with delivery.

The F-150 Lightning is $40K before tax credits. While this model only has about 240miles of range, it is far more feature-rich and a lot faster.

I'm certain most models with the extended battery and options will end up being $60K, but still.

At least $60K. Top of the falls just short of $100K.

No. Ford did invest in Rivian and Ford/Lincoln had plans to build an SUV on the Rivian platform but it was cancelled as a result of the pandemic. F series fans don't want a Rivian designed truck, they want one that mirrors their F series.

i'm definitely curious how they're going to accomplish the backup portion. any backup system by code needs to disconnect the utility feed so as not to present a hazard to others..

generac's transfer switch and installation is about $1500-2k. that would make it one of the most expensive chargers ever, which is certainly going to impact the take rate.

the beginning vehicle pricing is spectacular though.

A truck with a trunk, I mean frunk, without needing a tonneau cover. People are already sold.

Yes it will require a transfer switch. Ford already has this ability in their F150 hybrid.

Nice truck with a fair price. Good move, Ford.
Let’s see what GM can bring to the table, it throws them to a bad spot having to react on this segment.

Well, anyone not see this coming? Some of the Ford dealers are telling their customers there will be a "market adjustment" of as much as $30,000 on their $50,000 EV truck, and some idiot will pay it.

more than ever, it's clear to me why it's better to not be an early adopter.

You'd think, when trying to extort an additional almost 90% out of the buyer they would at least get the model name correct.

The N would just add an additional 10k to the markup

I would have responded something like. "Thank you for contacting me about my reservation. At this point I am not ordering any additional lighting on my new car. You may process my F150 Lightning order at MSRP, or I'll just find another dealer that will"
