Went to an open lapping day today at high plains raceway today. Had a great time. A buddy of mine who's a really good driver took me for a ride in his s14. His driving was much more aggressive than mine; braking way later than I was, using more of the track, and being way more aggressive with overtaking. He also came with me for a ride and gave me some really good tips.
There were way more cars on the track today so it was tough getting clean laps in without getting stuck behind cars or having to slow down because something happened on track. I focused on shifting less, and paying more attention to braking, line, and use of throttle. The car has had a decent amount of changes since I last drove this track and felt much more tail happy (also it may be time for tires and brakes). More of a drift setup that I'm driving on but it's still a lot of fun. Anyways, enough excuses, heres some video from the last two laps of the day. [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUegZOfBi_4"]Open Lapping at High Plains Raceway in BRZ - YouTube[/ame] Got Harry's Lap Timer and tracked a 2:10.52 for my best lap. This was on my last lap which had a couple of obvious mistakes. Need to get more seat time! Such a blast though. Worst part was running out of fuel after three sessions. Last time I was able to get four sessions in and had plenty of fuel left. I'll plan better next time and bring some e85 with me. |
