Needed opinions: Does debadging "Subaru" and "BRZ" cheapen the car?
I have a carbonfiber trunk garnish so I debadged my Subaru badge for that. If I debadge the "Subaru" and "BRZ" do you guys think it'll make my car look ricer or like a typical debadged G37 or make the BRZ look classier?
Thoughts? |

I can't think of any sort of removing or lessening thing that contributes to riciness. Usually to get ricey, you have to add things. Nonfunctional aero, stickers, lights, etc.
And of course replacing stock wheel with really tacky ones, and stuff like that. But personally, I don't associate clean and simple with rice. Rice is usually the opposite.

Also, badges are easy to replace. Just take them off and see how you feel about it. If you think it looks bad, just put them back on. Or maybe you'll like it, but after a year or two you'll change your mind. Then put them back on. Just don't throw them away.

Shaved emblems has been a customizing trend since forever. If you like it, do it. If you don't like it, don't do it.

I just cannot visualize a multimillion dollar professional athlete, for instance, buying a Mercedes, or Corvette, or Ferrari and "de-badging".
I see de-badging as a modification and view such modification as an indication of other potential modifications which would, to me, diminish the value of the car or, at the very least, question the value of the car. |

Is this thread serious?
First of all most people won't even know what the badging is supposed to look like. Second, stickers = rice. Subaru and BRZ are equivalent to stickers IMO so I took them off. I also took them off my last car. And I see them taken off many other cars that are otherwise stock. The major reason I like to take them off is because it makes cleaning the trunk infinity times easier. fuk letter badges |

Would you take, for instance, the 'F150' badge off the Ford F-150 pickup, or 'Impala' off the Chevrolet ?? If you don't like 'rice' why buy'm.

The lettering does nothing for the car IMO. If it were like the cars from the 50's and 60's where the badging was actually artistic, that would be different. The BRZ lettering looks totally generic.
