The weight issue

So I am dedicated follower of this thread and check it at least 20 times day (don’t tell my boss). But anyway I have notice everyone is so concern about the weight of each individual parts. I saw in one thread someone asked about the weight of the aftermarket shifter vs. stock. I think this is getting too overly weight conscious. Common lets be reasonable here. I say the best and cheapest place to cut weight is the driver (only if it is possible don’t be anorexic) or the passenger. Just my two cent.

Don't forget to use the bathroom before as well! That saves a couple lbs.

In most cases they WANT a shifter knob that weighs more because it makes entering the gears more precise.

I'm pretty sure a gym membership is cheaper and more beneficial than marginally lighter aftermarket parts.

When I started Karting I really did set out to loose weight to be faster...

Shift knob weight has a substantial effect on shift quality. The question was probably directed at that rather than improving performance.

I agree OP. I ride my bicycle everyday to lose a couple pounds to give my motorcycle the best power to weight ratio.

As people have said, lighter Shift knobs are for changing the feel of the shifter and creating a more precise movement into gear.

Lighter wheels+tires are to decrease unsprung weight and improve steering response.

Lighter Flywheels/Pulley setups are to increase engine/throttle response.

Eating a salad everyday for the next month will give me a 4 second improvement in the 1/4 mile.

Different parts have different effects when weight is shaved, and many weight mods are not for an overall lighter car specifically.

I know for me personally, the best weight saving mod I can do is to lose the 30lbs I put on since I quit smoking last July...

Well consider this, if you buy a phone+carrier and its major selling point is fast 4G. Don't you want to make sure your using the fastest 4G-LTE and not a mock up of a 4G service with speeds comparable to 2G-3G.

One of the major selling points as advertised for the FRS/BRZ is "lightness". We know that today's cars are pigfat, due to manufacturing processes and safety regulations. So as a consumer of the car, isn't one of your first inquiries about weight?

We in this forum aren't overly concerned about weight, we are simply making sure that we got what we bought, as advertised.

LOL. My motivation was "in the event I want to do a Halo / Master Chief cosplay, I should be fit so I can fit in the suit."

I've lost like 20lbs in the last few months - still haven't started the MC costume yet.
