Help with Tire/Wheel fitment
So I picked up my 22 WRB BRZ Limited back in Dec. and I have been mostly lurking around on the forums, living vicariously through the modification everyone else has been posting.
Because I live in NW Ohio, I threw snow tires on my factory 18" rims during the first week of ownership, specifically 205/40 Vredestein Wintrac Pro's. I have since spent the last several months trying to figure out what I am going to do for summer wheels/tires. In the end I decided to wait until Titan 7, Apex, or one of several other brands come out with some 18x9 rims with some decent concavity, as I have no interest in shaving, pulling, or rolling my fenders, or running silly camber. So to get to the point I ordered a set of SSR GTX04 rims in 18x8.5 to hold me over, and I am expecting them to arrive at the shop in another few weeks...just about when it will be warm enough to throw on some summer tires. But I am not sure what size summer tires would look best on the rims?? I love the way the 205/40 Vredestein Wintrac Pro's fit on the factory 7.5" wheels, pictured below. Is there anyway for me to know what size PS4's would give me a similar look on 8.5" wheels? My gut instinct was to order 245/35's so the spedo runs correctly, but I was worried they would look a bit "chunky" compared to the look I have going now... I don't have a lot of experience fitting wheels/tires, so I was hoping to default to the collective wisdom of the group. Thanks in advance. [url=https://flic.kr/p/2n8CpTB] ![]() |

Your best bet would be to check the first gen wheel threads for pictures since every tire brand is slightly different.
245/35 is definitely a good size for 8.5" wheels. That's what I have on my wheels that I used for the first gen and they look good. Just waiting for spring to get them on the BRZ. |

In my limited experience with Michelins, they run/look narrower than many other tires with the same size specs.

I'd say 235/35 would be the safe bet, and even a 225/35 would likely look fine (just a small amount of stretch).

I reckon 245/35 would be quite similar to what you have, possibly a little more square. I have 255/35s on my 8.5s and it’s pretty much square.

Ohhh, that's right. I forgot about the suspension issue. They're so damn pretty though...
