it goes from startup and initial idle at 15k, drops to standard idle which is a bit erratic, then to 2k, two accelerator spikes, then up to 3k

You never saw any boost. Boost is anything above atmospheric, so higher than 1 bar. You were in vacuum only. Compare it to mine.

Any chance your bypass valve is sticking?

the log is almost to see but not enough to judge.. , it s not erratic idle, you can see him blipping
It s strange, to me sounds like vacuum leak but i would need to see a longer log, with actually driving just a few second cold start where most of the time the Ecu forces 50/50% DI/PI isn t ideal Also strange the values sensed by the MAP, not sure why though Need more info... has this tune/car ever driven ok before? is the problem come out just lately? who tuned it and have you asked him? |

So I was just digging into the BPV. I noticed when my wife started the car and did a pull on it that the BPV was open, at least partially, the whole time. So in theory I would be low on boost. I'm just not sure a) is it actually malfunctioning and if it is malfunctioning weather b) the spring is week and it opens to easy or c) something other than the BPV is bad and pulling a tone of vacuum

So I smoked the BPV to the SC, smokes out the TB
Smoked the right side PCV, smokes out the TB Sooooo i capped the TB and ran probably 10lbs of smoke from the left side PCV. didn't go anywhere. No leaks. WTF. That should pressurize the entire system. I could see the plastic over the TB bulging. I'm pretty sure it's not a vacuum leak, unless I should't be getting it coming back to the TB. https://datazap.me/u/snowtaipan/2017...=0&data=3-7-23 So my thought is, the BPV is opening to easy, so a tiny bit of vacuum and she vents boost. The TMAP sensor sees not enough pressure.. yeah my brain's dead. |

Do you have a vaccum pump, like a MityVac? Testing the bypass valve with one is best way to determine if it is functioning properly. I have the old style bypass valve and here are some notes I took when I was having a problem with a leak.
Bypass valve ops vacuum = open, bypassing SC compressed air no Vacuum (car off, resting condition) or during boost = closed, using SC compressed air tested with vacuum pump and it begins to open (pull in) at ~5in/Hg (-2.5 psi) and is fully open at ~10 in/Hg (-5 psi) and should hold Edit 2 ***Just checked with it on the car and it was ~6in/Hg started to pull in and ~12in/Hg fully opened*** Last edited by BirdTRD; 04-24-2020 at 09:49 PM. Like it’s been said, off throttle equals vacuum equals open valve. On throttle equals boost equals closed valve.

Warm up the engine. Try logging a 3-5 minute idle. Then do a separate 2k hold for 2 minutes then do a 3k hold for two minutes. Post those three datalogs. Post comments about your impressions on each.

"I'm starting to suspect the BPV wasn't calibrated correctly. OR somethings pulling way too much vacuum on it, cause it opens at startup and basically stays wide open"
This is normal behavior. Vacuum at idle is (or should be) more than enough to pull the valve fully open and hold it there, allowing uncompressed air to bypass the SC rotors. When my valves diaphragm had a tear in it, there was still enough vacuum to open it and hold it open at idle so the valve appeared to behave normally. However, due to that tear, I now had a vacuum leak which gave me the same symptoms you're seeing right now. |

So I rechecked hoses, wires, clamps etc.
Re flashed the ECU for I think the 5th time Started logging before I cranked it Idled until LTFT stabilized (Again around 35-40) Held at 2k RPM for 1 minute Held at 3k RPM for 1 minute held at idle. I'm uncomfortable doing any more logging with the trim that high, so if we can work with what we got great, if not I don't know what to do but I'm worried I'm going to break something beyond whatever the current issue is. I do see that as the fuel learn creeps up with the LTFT, there's no real issue with the AFR. It's slightly high, but not at like 19 or something. Also shouldn't MAF voltage spike when I open throttle, and shouldn't MAF g/s be higher? https://datazap.me/u/snowtaipan/fina...zoom=1338-1484 Last edited by snowtaipan; 04-25-2020 at 05:08 PM. |
