Depends on your goals and preferences. If you want the feel of a big engine and the instant response then get a supercharger. If you don’t mind lag and want more power potential and probably better fuel economy then get a turbo. A twin scroll ball bearing turbo will have little lag. Some prefer SC whine and some prefer the sound turbo spool and BOV discharging. If you plan to build the motor and are shooting for high hp then a turbo is probably better.

Well Fer I think you need to hold off on that for a bit. This is not a slam or insult but if you thought you would get big gains from a cat back exhaust you still have some learning to do. Read, read, read. Once you think you have learned enough then read some more. Going either way with FI is not just a matter of slapping on a kit and calling it a day.

I think it boils down to whether the OP likes a screech or a whoosh.. Wants immediate gratification or likes to wait?

Personally I'll go supercharged. Simple and quick bolt on.
If I wanted more power I'll either do one of the two, 1: sell it buy a V8 car. 2: V8 swap. Of those two time and money would be the key factors.

I like how well integrated and well thought out the TVS supercharger kits are (Edelbrock and Harrop). On regular fuel they seem to pump power up to about 310 at the flywheel and 270 at the wheels. TBH that's about the most I would want in a car that weights under 1300kgs. I used to have a MKIV Supra which I went big in on for power. Garret T04Z, Greddy 3 row FMIC, Power FC computer, fuel system, etc. It ended up just being too much power for the streets and most of the time that power wasn't useable. I'd go on a remote twisty road and barely be able to come onto boost before having to change gears, or risk flying off the side of a mountain. |

Dilly Dilly my good man.....No replacement for displacement. Since Supercharging mine with the sprintex 210, Proper tune from Ecutek/DBW motorsports here in the Atlanta, Ga. area, I'm at 287 to the ground 230 torque on E-85. Been doing this for 40+ yrs. With this power to weight ratio on our platform its more than enough power for spirited mtn driving or track days. Learn to drive the car first , as many senior folks here advise. This set up I'm on will get you in way over your head before you can realize it. |

Turbo if you want to increase HP.
If you're going to be driving in the city, you might want an SC (Edelbrock/something low end) though if you're wanting to do stop light sprints. If you'r on the highway and roll racing, set up a turbo for higher end power. |

If you have to ask this question I feel like S/C is your answer simply because most of the kit are simpler to maintain and due to the lower numbers, less likely for you to self destruct.
I'm sure this will push buttons and offer a negative light for myself. HOWEVER, since your asking this question you haven't (yet) bothered to do research on the subject, and/or don't have a great mechanical knowledge/experience/background. Nothing wrong with that, we all start somewhere. A great but, costly way to learn IS trial by fire. If you can risk the cost and inconvenience. With that end I'd recommend you a basic, complete, bolt on supercharger kit. It isn't going to bring crazy numbers but, will wet your taste. You'll have an easier learning curve and as your experiencing it you will start pick up on some of the things the rest of us are talking about and slowly it will click.

I love my Edelbrock SC. Instant response. And I like the fact I can run a EL header for the sound I like.
