Better as a dedicated car cam. Always there, always works, no messing around.

Want to do other stuff with your cam? Get a gopro.

All you do when you park off by yourself is paint a big target on your car.

It turns itself on and off automatically

It has a GPS sensor

It has an accelerometer (to sense g forces, when impact is sensed through that sensor, the file is flagged as an event so it is safe from deletion. When the card fills up, it just records over old non-event video.)

It also has a parking mode, which can record on motion, or on impact.

I'm finding more and more that this shit doesn't work. Just park next to someone that looks like they won't ding your door and be done with it.

I didn't yet. For those who don't have this, the adapter senses when your battery is low and automatically turns the camera off. If you are parked for hours and there is constant traffic going by, the camera pretty much stays on running the battery, so you have to be careful with that.

I believe the gopro is cheaper and I"ve heard good reviews about it, but as was mentioned before, this has a very important surveylance mode shuts off if there is no movement. I don't think Gopro has that?

I always try to park next to a more attractive/expensive car than mine.

Either way, suddenly interested in this dash cam.

When this happened to my friend's father's new '64 GTO and the mook dinged the door, he happily replied with a baseball bat to the windshield to the offending pos.

Most def was on purpose, some people.
