Ramps vs Jack stands
I'm planning on installing a few bushings soon and was wondering whether ramps are fine or whether I should throw it up on jack stands. Reason I ask is some installs require the suspension to be unloaded while others it doesn't make a difference.
Bushings I plan to install: Whiteline Transmission Mount Insert Whiteline Subframe Inserts Perrin Rear Shift Bushing

I've done all of these on jack stands.
As far as I know, you can't do the rear subframe inserts on ramps as that would load the subframe, not allowing it to drop to give clearance to put the top inserts in. |

i've had ramps shift too many times while loading/unloading. way too many close calls and additional bumper scratches for no reason.
i always do maintenance on jack stands. even oil changes. they're more solid, and easier to place safely.

Old school ramps, like early 90s rhino ramps, are great. Modern ones suck.

i've had 2 old sets of steel 1970-1980 vintage Sears brand ramps. i've had both sets randomly shift while driving up/down them.
and then i end up dragging the jack out anyways to get it off the one ramp that is now twisting the frame and tweaking the bumper. figure i might as well cut out the middle man and just use the jack from the beginning.

The low profile, long race ramps are great. Anything else, nah. I've had issues with anything else I've tried except on a heavy truck or something.

if you use those ramps inspect the shit out of them before every use. i've seen those rhino ramps crack now and then.
