You really want those instructions eh.
The recall is what it is for and the TSB is how to do it.

I can ask my relative who work at Subaru if it wil be on TIS, will update on this.

I doubt that the 5k will be mentioned in a maintenance manual as the 5k information is relative to the research part of the recall.

I can easily picture that. It falls right in line with my own understanding of the issue from a mechanics-of-materials perspective.

Frankly, I was surprised by Subaru's decision, especially considering the cost.

My VIN is affected and I got the letter the other day, so would Toyota honor the recall on a modded turbo?

Depends on the dealership. Some won’t touch a modded car. Some may be willing to do the recall but you’ll have to remove the kit. That’s what I’m working with around me at least.

Has anyone in the U.S. gotten their letter yet? Seems like they're taking care of the rest of the world first.

I doubt it that you're being put off. My contact here in the UK still has no real info at their dealers. I would expect the sheer numbers of cars in the US might be a logistics issue but you're normally front of the queue when it comes to fixes/updates. I would expect only Japan to be done earlier.

got my letter yesterday for a 2013 Canadian FRS. I'm the second owner but Toyota got my info from my parts dept trips. I have 150k km on it.

Any ideas on what I should look at coupling alongside this repair?
-spark plugs
-motor mount replacement?
-cam plates? (no mods, so not sure if theres a leak risk with the factory part)
-head gasket?
-light-weight pulley replacement?
-serpentine belt replacement? (preventative)
-any other gaskets?
-DI Seals

Last edited by ottawafrs; 01-02-2019 at 11:13 AM. Reason: added DI seals

Maybe the spark plugs, if they haven't been replaced at least once.

I wouldn't have them mess with the rest of the engine (except for the valve springs).

not even the DI seals?

I want to do the motor mounts because it should be way easier now than if I need to do the headers down the road (my exaust system will rust out within a few years). The OEM mounts should fail eventually.

I have a good relationship with the Toyota shop manager here (had to do an engine replacement last year on a sienna) and am hoping he will approve T&M for any add-on work.
