So weird! what are you using for a signal? Forgive me if you already covered it. I'm old.

I’m pulling the signal from the ECU to the coil pack off one cylinder.

Maybe it's noise. I wish I had a scope. The number of times every year I say that, I should just suck it up and buy one. Not like they're hard to find.

I do have a scope. I should check it. I used shielded conductor but that doesn’t mean anything if there is enough noise.

I've had a new cube-mate for a few months. He's about my age and shares some of passions I have, cars in particular. Other than that, is hard to explain, he overthinks and goes way overboard on everyday things. I think he might have some OCD, and I know what that looks like. Anyway, he doesn't have much experience in life, like relationships, investments, budgeting and what not. He's a bit awkward and I feel like his dad most of the time.

He's been trying to buy a house and I just cannot hammer it enough that doing it right now is a horrible idea, especially living in CT. Not only did he offer way too much money for a house he was interested in (Listed for 250K he offered 260), he was also asked to make the down-payment as well as taking care of the closing costs. I had to almost ridicule him for being such an idiot. Got him to back out for obvious reasons. We have a good paying job, but a mortgage of close to 1600+ a month is not worth it if you're living by yourself. The typical response was "Ah is not that much, I can close Netflix and other monthly things". Then I sat down with him and added all of his major monthly expenses and had to almost ridicule his thought process to make him see the major mistake he was getting into.

I don't mind helping people out, is in my nature and I love mentoring, but this dude makes it very hard.

Edit: Now he's heading to the infirmary because he's not feeling too hot....... This keeps getting better and better.

How to know if a boss doesn't respect you much?

I'm gonna guess when he mentions the junior engineer doing well completing stuff when he just told me last week I have issues supposedly completing stuff.

And also, in a team meeting the boss asking the team if anyone knows how X thing works because he wants a change made to it, I unmute and say "it's made using X and I think you can use Y feature to do what you are talking about", he ignores me, someone else links to a webpage explaining exactly what I just said a moment before, and he praises them for it.

I find with certain types, the more comfortable they are with you, the more likely they are to call you out on things and less likely to bring up things you did well. They likely only do this with a handful of employees and everyone else never hears a word about their mistakes or things they could improve.

Oof! One song stuck to my head for few days now... trying to listen to other music to get it off my head, but it's not working.

Same, and it is on loop. Most toxic post outside of the covid and oil temp threads.
