Painfull to watch the landing of the BRZ.... (although it seems they go faster over the bridge than the WRX).

But we should not forget one thing:
Rallye cars make use of a special combination of two springs for their suspension:
- One soft main spring, that allows for optimal traction (as you just need soft spring rates for good traction in the wet, on bumpy roads or on gravel).
- One stiff helper spring, that comes in to prevent the car in such situations from complete spring compression and hard ground contact.

http://performance-suspension.eibach...tem__ers__calc

If you go with only one spring - like all production cars do - it is fine to pick a softer spring, as such jumps are rarely done on usual roads, but good traction in the wet and on bumpy country roads are a big plus. At least better than stiff race track springs, that work only well on new, totally flat high quality tarmac.
