I think we are all overthinking it here and splitting hairs. I remember back in the old Nasioc forum days when guys were spinning bearings in their WRX/STI people went nuts on what oil to use. Most, including me switched to 5w40 Rotella and mobil1 5w30 was blamed for all the spun bearings. But some how there were many guys using M1 5w30 for years without issue. One guy Unabomber used the Walmart Tech something Dino oil 5w30 the entire life of the car with no spun bearings. There are so many factors and variability I doubt you could prove one oil is better than another without a large controlled study. Buy and use the oil you like. Make sure it’s at the correct level. Don’t bounce off the rev limiter and all should be fine. If you are tracking well all bets are off and you need to do your research and testing to see what works best, much higher risk there.

Bobtheoilguy site is a great resource.

Agreed, if you do enough research on this oil business, for the majority of people driving this car, they're overthinking it. Without getting into details, I think the simplest way to sum it up is basically what you said. Any low weight oils of most brands and choices will be just fine for the majority of the daily drivers around. The 0W and 5W are minute differences, and 20-30 are just as minute. The viscosities in all of these vary by brand and by specific oil, even with the same weight. Tack on all the other additive differences, etc... it's an impossible choice to pick the best oil or oil weight. But you can get the general idea. When it comes to tracking the vehicle, and getting the car up to temps well above anything you'd achieve in daily driving, you can start to test other options in the higher weight oils with your own research and opinion on what you think is best. Tracking is just a whole other ball game that brings A LOT more variables to the table aside from just oil weights.

There's people running 5W-30 for the life of their car and there's people running 0W-20 for the life of their car. Neither is blowing up more engines than the other in typical conditions. But one thing is for sure, you can definitely notice a difference in MPG when switching between oil weights and many people have provided their data on this in the past. This is something that can set your choice on oil weight for sure, and that's perfectly fine.

Oil is quickly changing and becoming so good these days, the engine designs for proper flow are the bigger worry anymore. This is especially the case when it comes to tracking the vehicle.

Just haven't seen it on our cars, and I don't think there's an existing thread about this? If there already is one, let me know!

If you saw the finished product IRL first, it would give a whole different impression. It's all in the execution.

I'm not saying it's not well built, I'm just saying purely from the number of connections.

I think engine longevity is more tied to build precision/quality than choice of lubricant. If the bearings are going to scuff hard, might as well get the rebuild over with sooner than later.
That brings us to how much PSI a given oil bearing can support. They aren't all equal, and why I've only ever used Mobil1 0w-40 in this engine.
