So, basically the 400Z and the 86 MK2 are the same car with only slight differences?

Meh, I think it looks cleaner/nicer than both the second gen 86 and Supra (overall). Front opening is too big but sounds like they might tweak it.

Can’t wait to see pricing. All I need is an LSD, good steering rack, 6-speed and Carplay...

The fake, hypothetical, fictitious, made-up renders are.

nothing Nissan does surprises me anymore. they can't learn from previous mistakes or successes very well.

I know, but in 1999 Nissan was also on the verge of bankruptcy without the help of Renault.

Less impact absorption if it were to hit someone offset. I don't know for sure, just a guess from looking at it.

appreciate the fact the proto doesnt have a giant screen sticking out like a sore thumb
and instead has the iconic 3 gauges

also just a cool photo:

i'm really liking this new z. enough retro flair to be recognizable, but also new enough to be different.

i'm curious to drive one to see if the driving dynamics match the looks(i felt the 350z didn't), which would be the deciding factor, though i have serious doubts the handling could get much more communicative than the 86.
