Wireless Carplay and Volume Knob

Has anyone installed a headunit with wireless Carplay and a physical Volume knob?

I would like to add wireless Carplay to my '13 FRS but I love having the physical volume knob and feel reluctant to go full touchscreen.

Thinking it over maybe I would not care about that as much if I also upgraded my steering wheel to have MY17+ controls... TBH I don't want to go that far lol.

I've been eyeing a Kenwood DMX1037S, but have yet to see one installed

I have the Pioneer 4400 NEX. It doesn’t have the volume knob but it has physical buttons to adjust volume. I think there are some devices you can add to your steering wheel for controls as well.

Haven't seen one installed, I'd suspect it would block the majority of the center A/C vents. For that price I would like a demo first.

An accessory volume knob seems to be the solution, now where to put it...

I think it'll be pretty difficult to get one that has both CarPlay and a volume knob, much less one with those and wireless.

Seems like most headunits these days are copying the car manufacturers and going for either physical volume buttons or touch screen buttons and removing the knob, which really sucks.

What I can say is that while the Pioneer I upgraded to doesn't have a knob, I did do the steering wheels control module (since my car's steering wheel came with them) and most of the time I don't care about it anymore, though I miss it occasionally. I have wired Carplay on it but the newer models have wireless, though they're pricier.

But I also don't have an upgraded sound setup. I'd assume someone who's gotten OEM Audio+ or whatever systems may feel differently.

I installed a full touchscreen unit and added wireless steering wheel controls. Works great. A bit unsightly but functionality cannot be beat for pre-2017 models if physical buttons on headunit aren't an option.
