Aesthetic nods to the past (e.g. 2000GT) are fading with the 2nd gen.
The 2nd gen is basically a modern nod to the 1st edition, i.e. the BRZ now has a past of its own to draw from.
This reminds me of what happened with generations of Miata, i.e. the NA being a nod to e.g. the 60s Elise and other British roadsters of that era, and subsequent NB-ND basically riffs on the NA itself.
I can definitely see how some new owners will be very pleased with the 2nd gen, but for now I’m really glad I still have my ‘17 1st gen refresh.

Would be awesome if they offered satin black as one of the options.

The part of the car you circled is my entire problem with the design. It looks way too ricey for me. I am not sure how functional they actually are. I suspect they are adding all these aggressive vents all over the car because that is what the average buyer wants nowadays. Just look at all the ridiculous fake vents all over the current Civic Type-R and the Supra.

Damn, it does just keep looking worse to me. Bulbous, bloated and uncohesive lines just scibbled all over the place.

Still looking good to me. Man, this radio silence from the OEMs is killing me.

If this car is still around in 2027 it will probably have batteries and 500hp.

I think in 2027 the normal cars of the world has to do 0-60 in less than 4 seconds to be considered "competitive".....

Heh.

The red crinkle aluminum intake on the >= ‘17 refresh makes for one of the best looking stock engine bays available at any price.

Modern e.g. Porsches, can’t even take a peek under the hood anymore, same for electric vehicles - no box of bolts to marvel at. And hence no mechanical geek fun.
