Fuel Gauge will only go up to 3/4

A few weeks ago my fuel gauge got stuck around a 1/2 tank after i filled it up at the gas station which seems to be a common problem, but the next day I hit a bump on the interstate and the needle read back up to full.

A couple days later it got stuck around a 1/2 tank as I ran the tank down from the previous fill up. This time the issue stayed for several tanks and fill ups so I tried the trick of unplugging the battery after filling the tank again (hoping it would finally read a full tank).

After doing this my fuel tank went up to 3/4 and now it seems like the gas gauge has been moving down as usual as I burn through a tank, but when I fill it up the gauge will only go up to 3/4 of a tank.

Has anyone found a solution to this? It's a 2017 Toyota 86 with 45k miles. Thanks!

Now there's an issue I haven't heard of for a while.
Here you go. Ranges from the wait and see to replacing a sender.

I have never told anybody to goggle anything.
Trying to search for stuff on here is a nightmare.
A reasonable question asked in a reasonable manner with reasonable detail gets a reasonable answer. I just don't feel the need to type out all the possibilities when they are already written.

Why do you have a picture of Humfrz as your avatar now?

Hey, @Tcoat , how come I got drug into this -

Oh, for a back in the day solution - OK, just bend the brass rod that is attached to the float in the gas tank, till the gauge reads right.

AND, @FR-S2GT86 , put my avatar back where you found it.

A) Fair enough. I guess at some point I was being unreasonable. That's good to know I suppose.

B) Because a picture of my old lady would be inappropriate.

LOL No YOU have never been unreasonable and my comments were not directed at you.

My comments were in reference to the many people that show up, ask a vague and usually unanswerable question, tell everybody that answers they already knew that info, then proceed to crap all over everybody.

THOSE are the guys that are not reasonable.

No toes were stepped on. Hum is like 800 years old so the picture suits him. He has never figured out how to insert an avatar anyway.

I encountered this with my 2016 a few times and running my tank all the way down to E resolved it.

Bubba says to take out the back seat and pound on the top of the gas tank near where the sender unit is, with your fists at least four times.
