Working on a run thru the Wisconsin country side, but it will be close to an all day drive. Looking at early July, but not the 4th.

Thinking five, besides myself. Wish I had a video camera in order to share the great spots. Borrowing from the movie "Need for Speed", I'm thinking we call this run the "Wisconscion". Takes a while, but many tight turns.

Here's a Novice Guide:
http://www.mnautox.com/forums/conten...ovice-Handbook

and a flash slideshow: http://www.mnautox.com/forums/conten...w-Autocrossers

My car has a couple comfort and simple power mods, and I have the stock tires. Nothing serious is necessary to drive. There are two BRZ drivers who attend regularly and have better tires than me and set competitive times. I've posted my videos earlier in this thread.

@JohnJuan - should be able to get out there and watch some more runs. Still debating about driving this year or next.

@stokeless - Nonsense, my car is bone stock and I take her to BIR for the HPDS after Proving Grounds. They came ready for fun driving, but if competition is what your after. Yep, you'll be building yours up.

I would be able to do an autocross or two, however, so maybe I'll see you out there this summer.

"Track ready" depends on your experience, how fast you drive and somewhat on the organization that is sponsoring the event. At a minimum, you really should invest in a set of track focused brake pads. Other than that you could run the car stock with 0W30 oil, fresh DOT 4 brake fluid and a complete brake flush and bleed. Make sure you have enough tread on your tires as well. Fresh transmission and differential fluid would be a good idea, as would torquing all of the suspension bolts to spec. If you are new to track driving, this is really all you need to do for this car if it is in good working order. Most clubs will also require a helmet, currently this is probably an M2005, M2010, SA2005 or SA2010, but it can vary with each club.

It's the brake pads and rotors that would break my budget this time. For me on the stock sized rotors, I would probably mostly use them up on a 3-day school, as well as a set of front track pads. Also, my rear shocks are completely shot, and my fronts are not great. This would make driving on a high speed track like this entertaining, but wobbly and perhaps a bit silly. When I ran the car 2 years ago, it had huge understeer into the corners. This was mostly due to the fact that I was driving faster into corners than the suspension was able to handle. I want to upgrade instead of driving slower into the corners on a stock suspension. This car does not do so well riding the bump stops into the corners; I really need higher spring rates. Also, in turn 2 at high speeds there was quite a bit of lift on the front end forcing me to slow down. While lowering the car a bit with a new suspension would probably help, I would really prefer to have a splitter to hold the front of the car down at high speeds, and while I'm at it, a diffuser in the rear as well.

that's is my current issue... to get my car just to meet the min requirement, I would need to speed around 500.00 or so to get it done. I am new to all this and do not even have a helmet. I hope to be ready next year.

BIR/PG is very lax. I think they are requiring specific brake fluid this year. If I had more free computer time I'd go search the req's on the event page for ya but all the info is there.

Otherwise your car should be fine to enter if everything is in mechanical check
